The Hope Memorial Bridge connects Lorain Avenue on Cleveland's west side and Carnegie Avenue on the east side. It was formerly called the Lorain–Carnegie Bridge. The art deco truss bridge was completed in 1932 and is 5,865 foot (1,787 meter) long and 93 feet (28 meters) tall. Pairs of statues, called "Guardians of Traffic" stand on each end and symbolize progress in transportation.
