Bruce the Goose aka "Scherman" is a Canada goose in Conway that has become somewhat of a local celebrity, by way of his unfortunate circumstance. It appears that he got entangled in orange construction fencing, which broke loose and formed a bright ruffle around the goose's neck.

Arkansas Game and Fish Commission employees were consulted about the goose, and because the fencing did not appear to be affecting his normal behaviors, there were no immediate plans to capture the goose and cut off the plastic. In summer, when the flight feathers are mostly shed by Canada geese, AGFC may make an attempt to capture him as part of the census/banding of local geese.

Around 2 months after the story of Bruce the Goose gained attention, a local resident on a walk with his family was successful in catching the goose and pulling the netting off of the goose's neck.

Bruce is most typically observed in the small pond behind Walgreen's, on College Avenue between Country Club and Salem roads.
