General Computer Stuff

I specialize in computer tune-ups, virus and spyware removal, tweaks to make it run faster, or just an all around upgrade so it IS actually faster. Or maybe you have a new piece of hardware or external peripheral that needs to be set it up, but you would rather not take the time to learn how to make it work and you just want it to work. I can set that up for you quickly and efficiently. If you do actually want to know how it all works, I would love to EXPLAIN AND DEMONSTRATE how do it so if it breaks or needs a replacement, you will know what to do next time!

Other Electronics

I can also help you with that new printer you just bought, or maybe the new digital camera, iPod or anything! You bring it to my attention and I can probably help you out with it!

Networking

Now, how about something SCARY! Take networking for example, you just want the computers to talk to each other, ok, so sure, just buy a network switch and a couple of ethernet cables. But which ones go where? Where do you plug in that Comcast cable modem so that ALL your computer have the same internet? Maybe you have Dail-Up and need all the computers to connect through one wall jack and still be on the same network with each other? The possibilities are endless.

Wireless

Then there comes WIRELESS networking! Say for example, you or someone in your household just bought a laptop or PSP (Playstation Portable) and would like to be able to get on the internet with it (Yes! Those amazing little machines can do almost anything!). You can purchase a wireless router and plug in the wires, but what about configuration of what computer gets what address? Would you like them to be public addresses or private addresses, static or dynamic? Should they be secured with WEP (Wireless Encryption Protocol) or with WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access)? Once again, mind boggling confusion! I can shed some light on your situation and explain what it all means so that you can take my job!

Charges

I charge what I pay for the parts plus, at $20 an hour, I'm a steal! Also, if I can't fix it, it's free! Honestly, I really enjoy my work and would do it all for free if gasoline weren't so expensive and I didn't have a family to support (But I love my family and wouldn't want to not support them!).

A little About Me

I have 12 years working with computers within my family and 8 years working with families within the Philomath and Corvallis Communities providing computer related assistance. In the first half of 2006, I spent 22 weeks at the Oregon Youth Challenge Program, a VERY well structured alternative highschool with a military role model where I earned my GED with a 798 out of 800 avarage (I've been homeschooled all my life so an HSD was out of the question) and graduated the program in Class 31 on the Drill Team. I then spent 10 months at The Tongue Point Job Corps Center in Astoria, Oregon. There I completed the Computer Service Technician vocation as well as completing the Office Technology vocation. Also, I have my CompTia A+ Certification with the IT Technician Designated Pathway. I am currently pursuing my CompTia Net+ Certification as well as the funds for an AS degree from ITTech.
