The Activities and Recreation Center (commonly referred to as the ARC) is one of the country's largest on-campus recreation centers. Although the original building opened in 1971, the current building opened in August 2008. The construction project cost of the building was 54 million dollars. It is full accessibility status, and can be accessed by current students of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, ARC members, and guests. There is Wi-Fi internet access available throughout the building.

Group Fitness classes are available, and include a variety of cardio, cycling, dance fitness, mind/body, strength, and water fitness options. The cost of classes are not included in the student or general memberships, but passes can be purchased for single-use, unlimited semester access, or unlimited annual access. Some classes require calling ahead in order to reserve your equipment.
