The Champaign-Urbana Tenant Union compiles information about local landlord issues and relevant laws, and advocates for tenants. They provide free services to renters involved in landlord-renter disputes and keep records of complaints lodged against landlords. There are TWO tenants unions with similar names, so make sure you contact the one that is right for you. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Tenant Union (www.tenantunion.illinois.edu) serves UIUC students only, while the Champaign-Urbana Tenant Union (http://cutenantunion.org/) provides identical services to all local renters.
