The purpose of the Champaign County Genealogical Society (CCGS) is:

  •     to promote genealogical and historical research;
  •     to aid in the publication and preservation of genealogical and historical records and manuscripts; and
  •     to provide programs designed to assist both the beginning and the advanced genealogist.

The society is open to the public, as are all of its meetings and events. It usually meets the second Tuesday of the month for an education program at the Lewis Auditorium of the Urbana Free Library.

The society also volunteers time to help make records more accessible for genealogists and local historians.
