About

The Champaign County Regional Planning Commission (or RCP for short) is an organization that offers 100 different programs and services for people living in Champaign and its nearby counties. The RCP has three main divisions targeted to help the public:

  • Head Start: This program serves children from six weeks old to five years old, as well as pregnant mothers. Head Start helps prepare children for future success by addressing their cognitive, developmental, and educational needs, social and emotional needs, and health and nutritional needs. For more information, see their website
  • Community Services: This division provides support for at-risk, low-income, and underserved residents. Services may include case management, financial assistance, education, and support for low-income individuals and families; assistance for juvenile offenders and other at-risk youth; housing help and resources for the homeless; information, counseling, and help for homebuyers, home owners, and renters; help for people with developmental disabilities; and safety and suitable housing for seniors. For more information, see their website.
  • Planning and Community Development: This division focuses on four programs: (1) transportation, (2) regional planning, (3) economic development (e.g., help with business retention, expansion, and development via grants and loans), and (4) geographic information systems. Fore more information, see their website.
