FRANKENBIKES

Maker John Rubins has been taking old scrap bikes and making them into new bike creations: long john cargo bikes, tall bikes, and high racer recumbents.

Cargo bikes first came in existence in the 1920s in Holland, and Rubins continues the tradition today with FRANKENBIKES. He's worked on special projects, such as the harvest cart for a local farm and a mobile coffee cart.

John Rubins is also a creative writing professor at the University of Illinois.
