Formerly the Graduate School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS), the School of Information Sciences (iSchool) is a unit of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. There are only 50 or so such schools in the US.  People go there for masters degrees so they can work as professional librarians, or in other information professions.  And people earn PhDs there too, or take courses towards a undergraduate minor in informatics. The school has been nationally ranked No. 1 by U.S. News and World Report. Areas of focus include: information organization and knowledge representation, information resources, uses and users, information systems, history, economics and policy, management and evaluation, social community and organizational informatics, and youth literature and services.

Getting there, parking and so on

The iSchool is located at 501 E Daniel in Champaign in a former fraternity building.  Two hour street parking surrounds the building and is surprisingly easy to get to during the day.

As of fall 2012, Community Informatics online and in-person are working to help develop and maintain the CU Wiki.
