The Museum seeks to collect, preserve and interpret the natural and cultural history of Champaign County and East Central Illinois.
Its collections include the Doris K. Wylie Hoskins Archive on Cultural Diversity, and it has published the Through The Years newsletter series on African-American history in Champaign County.
Other collections and exhibits include: East Frisian History, Lincoln history, stories of the prairie, early American occupations such as black-smithing and farming.
The museum does group tours and does regular outreach with both local schools and home-schooled students.
