Poster from event #10, July 27, 2012PechaKucha started in Tokyo in 2003 as a presentation and networking event for visual artists to display their work.  It has since become a global practice, including in Champaign-Urbana.  The event draws its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat" and is built on a presentation format that is based on 20 images x 20 seconds.  The first official event in town was September 2009 at The Canopy Club.  Other venues have included the William Staerkel Planetarium, Krannert Art MuseumKrannert Center for Performing Arts and the Graduate School of Library and Information Science.
