In Champaign County, you are required to register your pet within 30 days of adoption or within 30 days of moving into the area. Honestly, who knows how they'd be able to tell when you moved, but it's still a good idea, because if your pet is an escape artist and likes to take a jog around the neighborhood, s/he could be impounded, a consequence which is made much worse (and much more expensive) if your pet is not registered with the county already. In order to register your pet, you'll need to get your pet vaccinated for rabies (see Veterinarians below), and all the other information, including fees, is on the Animal Control & Animal Services website.

Dog Parks

Want to socialize your dog, romp around, get some energy out, bond with your dog, do some off-leash training, play, or just relax while your dog plays chase with other dogs? Check out one of the two awesome dog parks in Champaign-Urbana. Your dog does need to be registered with the county (see above...this is another, more fun, reason to register your pet), and you will need a membership to the dog park to go play there.
