Samuel McHaney, 1983

In 1931 Mr. McHaney went into partnership with Mr. Joshua Parker who, at the time, had the first Black funeral home in Champaign. In 1933 he started his own business on Dublin Street in Urbana. He later moved to East Vine. He operated the funeral home for nearly four decades. Over several years he gradually went blind and finally sold the business in 1972.
