The Bike Project is a co-op that provides lots of bicycle resources like tools, work space, knowledge about bicycle repair, local cycling information and used bikes.

Locations

There are two locations, in the basement of the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center and the Campus Bike Project on Pennsylvania Ave just east of 6th Street. Open hours are different at each location, check their site for info http://thebikeproject.org/hours.htm.

Membership

Anyone can join the co-op for an annual fee.

family/partner rate

A work-equity membership (8 hours of volunteer work at either Bike Project location) is also an option for membership.

 

 

 

Build or purchase a bike

Co-op members can build a bike from the large collection of salvaged bikes.  Most cost $10 to start, and any needed parts are available for a member-discounted price. Fixed gear builds are supported.

Ready-to-ride used bikes are available for purchase by the public, member or not, starting at $45. Bike purchase includes a one-year membership, and members receive discounts on accessories.

Volunteer
