Darien is serviced by the New Haven Line of Metro-North Railroad with direct service to Grand Central Terminal. There are two stations: Darien and Noroton Heights. Parking permits at the stations are on a years long waiting list. However, there is some daily parking spots which fill up fast.  Learn more about railroad station parking.

 

Darien Train Station

The Darien station is located in the center of downtown with shops and restaurants on either side. More food is located on the southside  of the tracks (the side of the station you get on if you're heading towards New Haven). Buy your tickets early — tickets are available for purchase only on the northside of the tracks (heading towards Grand Central). The station's building is only open in the mornings. 

Darien Library keeps the station stocked with free books for commuters. 

Within Walking Distance of Darien 

3 minutes: Tilley Pond Park is across the street from the north side of the station. This is a great place to enjoy the wait if you have awhile till your train arrives. 

15 minutes: Darien Library is a short walk down Post Road. You'll find a/c, fireplaces in the winter, a cafe, study rooms, and free WiFi along with the usual books and programming a public library has to offer. 

 

Noroton Heights Train Station

As with Darien Train Station, tickets at Noroton Heights can only be purchased on the southbound side of the station (heading towards Grand Central. 

Within Walking Distance of Noroton Heights

Noroton Heights Shopping Center, Palmer's Market, and a Stop & Shop are all right across Heights Road from the train station.
