Noroton Heights encompasses the west-central portion of the town between Stony Brook Park to the east, Woodland Park to the west, I-95 to the south, and Middlesex Road to the north. The neighborhood includes dense residential and commercial areas, including the Noroton Heights Shopping Center, two grocery stores, three gas stations, and several restaurants. The area is also home to the Noroton Heights Metro North station, which offers direct service to Grand Central Terminal. Prior to construction of I-95 in the 1950s, Noroton Heights was often thought of as constituting its own distinct community within the town of Darien, a feature that  was accentuated by the neighborhood's concentration of Italian-American immigrants in the first half of the 20th century.
