2nd Friday ArtAbout

2nd Friday ArtAbout is Davis' free, monthly art walk. It takes place on the second Friday of each month from approximately 5 PM to 9 PM. Most venues hold their receptions at this time. Various downtown businesses and art galleries participate as ArtAbout venues, hosting pop-up art shows and artists' receptions, live music, and performances. Printed maps are available at The Artery, Pence Gallery, and other ArtAbout reception venues, and online at http://www.davisdowntown.com/2nd-friday-artabout

It was founded by The Artery, and was overseen by a committee consisting of core members Stewart Savage, Executive Director,  Davis Downtown Business Association (AKA DDBA, AKA Davis Downtown), Sandy Thai (RockBand University, DDBA), Natalie Nelson & Eileen Hendren (Pence Gallery), and Cathie Duniway & Diana Fong (The Artery). Davis Downtown Business Association took over the coordinating and PR responsibilities.

The current 2nd Friday ArtAbout Coordinator is Katy Karns. Katy is in charge of PR, matching artists with Downtown businesses, and producing the ArtAbout Guide and Map.

Other "art walk" style of events are the Winters Art Walk which runs on the first Saturday of the month, and the Sacramento Second Saturday. Both are also highly recommended.

If you've never been on an art gallery walk, I highly recommend it. Free food, great art, cool people. It changed my world. Really. -SteveDavison
