Cleavers (Galium aparine), commonly known as Stickywilly, Sticky Weed, or Catchweed, is a prevalent annual weed found throughout the Davis area. Characterized by its slender, square stems covered in tiny hooked hairs and whorls of lance-shaped leaves, Cleavers weed often grows in clusters, reaching up to 6 feet in height. The plant is known to cling to clothing and fur, facilitating its rapid spread. Cleavers weed is often viewed as an invasive pest in gardens and agricultural fields, sticking to almost everything it touches and crowding out other plants.
