That would take one of these people who work behind the scenes. I'd recommend Philip or Amit. I don't recall anybody doing that. Most people simply delete their account (see your user settings by clicking the "Settings" button in the corner and click "Delete this account forever") and re-signup under a new account. — JabberWokky
Hey there, I replied to your question on JasonAller's page. It's not possible right now, sorry. —PhilipNeustrom
2006-12-22 10:13:31 Can you link both Sophomore Walk and Daubert from somewhere? They are showing up as Orphaned Pages. —JasonAller
2007-01-06 16:33:11 It appears that you can no longer do that (you used to be able to use [[image(/JabberWokky/mib.png)]]). If you really need to (i.e., an updating image to multiple entries), give it a unique entry and include it. If you do so, you'd better have pretty good reason to do it that way rather a the normal upload, as it confuses the markup for novices and as a result would not likely to be a popular edit. The preferred way would be tosimply upload the image twice, once to each entry. —JabberWokky

2007-01-28 16:32:55 Yep. I've been to two meetings. I'm kinda suprised that there is only one member of the lodge (who attends meetings, anyway) that is affiliated with the university, and he was raised in December. I'm gonna affiliate soonish, which will push that number to two. —WilliamLewis

2007-02-09 14:44:49 I'm sure people would simply search "golf" or something. But there's several references to muni as a transit system, and likely to the majority of people Muni refers to transit systems. In fact, that's what Muni is usually short for, a Municipal Railway or Bus System or electric this or that, etc. —ES
2007-02-15 02:13:11 Hmmm, an argument against choice voting. Does it have anything to do with complacency or allowing for total minority rule? —RobRoy

2007-02-23 05:29:47 Don't worry about it. Jason and I snipe each other's edits all the time. 2007-02-27 15:01:01 Hi Steven - I'll get a certificate of inequality to you ASAP. And Indy does not have his own page. I'm a bad mom... —FreddieOakley
2007-03-01 07:46:29 Hey, Daubert, not that they aren't cool, and Davis does have some excellent ones, but greenbelts aren't unique to Davis. Many towns or areas with heavy foot and bike traffic have them. Also hunters and conservationists like them as they also serve as conduits for animal life to navigate through human areas during the night hours. You're right about it being an excellent way to explore town. —JabberWokky
2007-03-01 22:44:43 I don't bother mapping them on my own computer anymore. I just use wigle.net. I don't think you really need a map to find an open wifi connection in Davis, though. —BradBenedict
2007-03-02 00:08:17 Take Cisco so you can carpool with me and give me gas money! —NickSchmalenberger
2007-03-02 03:37:31 I thought about doing, that but when I was there the switches all sucked. At SCC they have new(ish) switches that actually have fast and gigabit ethernet, and 2600 routers instead of 2500s. And, it would freak out my sister if she saw me at school. —NickSchmalenberger
2007-03-02 13:42:00 The Colony Collapse Disorder is very troublesome, and I think it has finally elevated the plight of the bees to public awareness. We're very dependent upon these creatures, and something's going on that is wiping them out. My personal take on it is that the migratory beekeeping is allowing pathogens to spread amongst the bee populations around the country. As for the bee-burning link that was on the forum link that you sent me... MURDER! heh. —KarlMogel
2007-03-02 14:52:52 Hah, I just started to create a map of the limited amount of wifi networks I still have plotted on my computer when I thought to myself "I'm REALLY surprised it's not already on the wiki". So I did some searching and derr, there is a nice map on Wifi Hot Spots —BradBenedict

2007-03-06 17:51:21 No, it was directed at the earlier suggestion of some sort of volunteer project. I like your idea of the pancake breakfast too. I might just go myself if I'm not doing anything else. —NickSchmalenberger

2007-03-09 12:07:16 Ok, I was so intrigued I called Guadi and asked, they say its family owned here. There is probably a factory that makes the same signs for all the frackin guadalajara places. There are a bunch in houston Tx as well —JarrettNoble

2007-03-15 17:32:35 Oh. I'm so sorry to hear about MUGA he looks very sweet & regal. Jevan suggests he be post-humously knighted sir MUGA (my rabbit in Santa Cruz is sir Edgar...) I liked growing up in SC, not that I have a different youth to compare it to. I've been obsessed with rabbits as long as I can remember; they're just so soft and sharp and timid and crazy... —AmeliaCarlson

2007-04-04 12:30:47 Yay, FMA! This is my second year in Anime Club. I don't go both days, though. I usually pick one day or the other, depending on my schedule for the quarter. Why? Do you attend? Say hi if you see me! I'm sorry to hear about your rabbit. :-( —NumiaCairaguas

2007-05-22 14:42:17 FUP? That's Fucked Up Punx, right? They're a bunch white middle class suburban kids that wanted to start a gang. No offense if you have any ties to them. I used to be in the Syphilites which was a short lived lofi punk band that left a pretty solid imprint on Woodland. My friends are in Planetary Ruin, which used to be the Woodland crust band, Societys Disease. I dig grind, but actually haven't followed too much of the Woodland stuff. —BrianTrott
2007-05-23 10:50:54 It's hard to say. I'd definitely say Woodland doesn't live up to its title. My dad used to be on the Woodland city council tree commission. I think Davis and Woodland are fairly even treewise. Davis may seem to have more trees, but I think it's just more concentrated. —BrianTrott
2007-05-23 21:43:39 By the way. Who is this grindnerd you speak of? —BrianTrott

2007-06-20 22:08:23 Yes, it was linked from a page in their website of images for press or public relations or something. It originated as a linked image in the original version of the page. 2007-06-26 14:11:40 When I was buzzed by the CHP, his lights and siren were both off. It was a quiet morning and visibility was very good. 2007-06-30 13:23:07 GMO's are one of the WORST ideas humyns have ever concocted. The consequences for biodiversity on this planet could be devastating. My issues with GMO's include contamination of the rest of the biosphere, lack of any real testing of possible health or environmental risks, terminator seeds, patents being applied to contaminated plants, crazy amounts of petrol based fertilizers and pesticides needed to grow GMOs, Huge multinational Corporations owning patents on life, plants, food etc. And also there is Monsanto's GMO contamination of like 70% of corn in Mexico. WTF, birth place of Maize 4-8000 years ago, now polluted and overrun by patented mono species crops killing other species (technically, the birthplace of corn is Oaxaca, which is still GMO free). I'm not against Genetic research, just against reckless genetic tampering with earths food supply. Hard for me NOT to be against GMO’s even before I was against Petrol/chemical based Agriculture and Copyright. —PxlAted

2007-07-27 20:12:17 We might be talking about two different things. I drive around it every morning on my way to work in Sac. It wasn't a dip as much as an uneven bump in the left-hand, east bound lane where it switches from asphault to concrete. The bump is very high on the far left side and then slope down steeply to the right. Same one? or different? —JamesSchwab

2007-08-11 14:07:22 Oh, I don't disagree that 14th Street could eventually be turned into a diambig entry... in fact, the redirects allow people to link specifically to East or West 14th, and then when (or if) those are created (likely by splitting the current 14th Street entry in two and making it a "West or East?" disambiguation entry), the links are all good. If anything, the redirects will encourage it to be split in two, since it will be easier to do so when the 14th Street entry becomes long enough. I just didn't think it was quite long enough yet... I'm slowly going through all the street entries, and many need quite a bit of care. The first step I'm doing is indicating neighboring streets so that you can "walk through them" on the wiki. —JabberWokky
2007-08-12 14:07:28 sweet, let her know, any info is good, i've yet to sit down and really get working on that poor empty wiki. —MichelleAccurso
2007-08-17 23:08:26 I agree with you. What you quoted was a reply to Steve-O, who edited the page after you did. —EdWins
2007-08-18 12:06:56 Re: Hibachi-San... There's a Mr. BBQ in Lock Haven, PA. Why is the name so terrible? Many businesses and products have odd juxtaposed words for names. This is no more strange than the national formalwear chain Mr. Tux or the floor detergent Mr. Clean. It's a sight better than Hot Dog on a Stick, C R Chicks, Cracker Barrel, or the very oddly named (if you think about it) K-Mart. I'm curious as to why you think it is so much more strange than Pizza Guys. —JabberWokky
2007-08-24 14:01:54 one of the worst statements was that Venezuela had just purchased some fighter jets from russia and the Hugo Chavez was possible looking to move away from a defensive posture and start attacking it's neighbors, namely Columbia. Talking as if Venezuela and their military are a threat to other countries and human rights in South America instead of the US military. What makes it worse is that he was just reading off a written piece, not even his own propaganda. —PxlAted
2007-08-30 20:10:39 Please don't add a comment to Community Alert... in case you didn't notice, it is included on the Front Page. There is Community Alert/Details, a la Mystery Picture and Mystery Picture/Guesses. —JabberWokky
2007-09-02 21:18:51 hello my creepy-noise-making dear. if your mother would like to edit the vacwik, by all means tell her and let her have at it. i have seriously done nothing more that create it. other wonderful wikians have added far more than i have. thank you. i know you weren't there the first time, but we need another late night dixon IHOP gathering. —MichelleAccurso

2007-09-12 17:00:43 Well since it is all self serve its kind of up to you what kind of yogurt creation you want, but soon here on the wiki we are gonna be posting employee creations with pictures and recipes of our favorites. I like layer graham crackers, chocolate ice cream, marshmallows, hot fudge and more graham crackers for a s'more effect. Also vanilla with waffle cones pieces and strawberries is always good. The book club is kinda in hiatus due to lack of members but we will be starting up when people get back into town and we can advertise it more. Hope to see you at the shack!! —JackkiCox

2007-09-26 19:52:59 Hey, I was gnoming Hibachi-San and saw your comment again and decided to search. There's a Mister BBQ in Memphis, and another was in Hopkinsville, Kentucky in 1977, and that was in the first few returns (seems that there are loads of people dubbed "Mr. BBQ"). I'm still a bit bewildered by your reaction to the name, but I've got plenty of little things that bug me as well. Like marketing tea under the name "chai", which just means "tea" in many other languages. That bugs the hell out of me, doubly so when it is labeled "Chai tea", which is basically like saying "Aqua water". So, I may not understand your specific objection, but I certainly respect pet peeves regarding names and language. —JabberWokky
2007-09-28 12:26:30 I was surprised to see you working at La Crepe in the silo, how was your summer? when do you get off anyway? —DavidPoole

I wanted to ask you about your wifi phone. do you find it works well? it seems like there might be connection issues with certain types of networks. im assuming it saves access information for protected networks that you have permission on? all in all, are you satisfied with it? or did you ditch a long time ago? —ChrisKadi

2008-03-06 19:20:41 I was filling up at the gas station at Cowell and Research Park, and the tow guy was securing the truck after towing it from an apartment complex's parking lot for illegal parking. Ha. —MichaelAWoods
2008-03-09 07:45:49 (This is JabberWokky) Hey, I didn't get your message until much later, I can log in with Sarah's account, and it works fine. If you're still having problems, you can post to WikiSpot.org without being logged in. —SarahEdwards
2008-03-09 12:11:03 I don't suppose you copied the error? There was an outage a day or two ago that may be related to this. Probably not, but if there's a creeping issue, finding out about it before half the wiki can't log in would be nice. —JabberWokky
2008-03-09 12:21:02 Looks like someone disagrees with you. I still <3 Sierra myself. —WilliamLewis

2008-03-23 20:53:55 Sorry for the dally delay, busy away from wiki (e-mail is best to get me), the board of directorness is some wikispot wiki out there, not sure where exactly but it is public (check listing), as for mobo jumpers, I do here actually, but am in SoCal at the moment, if you don't need them in a hurry I will bring up some, 'kay? —DavidPoole
2008-03-24 01:02:09 I see you found another source of jumpers but you should still come over sometime. —NickSchmalenberger

2008-04-03 10:53:37 Hey, just to let you know, I altered your comment on Knife Throwing, as it appeared to be an accidental markup error. —JabberWokky
2008-04-07 19:57:17 Hey, nice to talk to you after seeing your name on this thing all over the place. Anyhow, I was diagnosed back around 2000-2001 or so. I didn't ever know that I had ADHD or that I was distracted so much. I was sorta self-involved that I didn't really compare myself to anyone else. That is until I moved out to Davis and met my eventual ex. But while I was with her, she noticed. It also helped that her brother was diagnosed and now medicated, so she was able to see the signs. I went and and saw my doctor, who then sent me to a specialist. After a series of tests, they told me everything that I needed to know and how I can treat it medically and non-medically. There was this particular test that gauged focus and reaction time amongst other things. While not medicated, I scored about 35% or so. After medication, I was scoring about 98%. And that reflected immensely in my social and academic life. I still had to make life changes, but eventually I stopped medicating (mostly cause I lost my insurance, and couldn't afford the meds anymore) so I had to learn to deal with things on my own. I've done some reading, but I have more to do with some new books I've found. I used to be on Ritalin (I tried Adderol, but it didn't work well with me). I would like to have access to Ritalin again for those times that I really need it, cause, as with anyone that has ADHD knows, there are times when being distracted is more than something you can just shake off. —SunjeetBaadkar
2008-04-08 14:45:52 We need to come up with a clever title for our page. —CurlyGirl26
2008-04-09 22:27:24 Ah see, but I added the comment, that there are more trails in east Davis that I haven't traveled. I run the north davis section all the time. But by Wes' comment, I'm guessing its not there. —BrandonBarrette
2008-04-09 22:43:16 There ridiculous. Especially in Davis. Like the Ace-Man, I believe that the red left arrow is bullshit. I think the rule should be similar to the turning right on red rule. If there's no one coming, go ahead and turn right (unless there is a sign prohibiting it because of visibility or whatever). Left arrows should be the same. Unless there is a valid reason, there is no reason I should have to sit at the red left arrow for 45-Mississippis when there is no one around. Join me in fighting this injustice! Just go ahead and turn on the left arrow. —CurlyGirl26
sorry to comment on your page daubert, but just a bit of information regarding trends in traffic regulations, what you really want are protected permissive lights, which are coming into vogue as much better than just plain ol' protected arrows, the risk is that in Davis there is a high quantity of bike traffic.. which may have problems with bad drivers :P ~DavidPoole
2008-04-09 22:44:04 Christ, I meant "they are ridiculous" NOT "There ridiculous". I'm just tired. I know the difference! —CurlyGirl26
2008-04-09 23:08:38 Okay, I have looked into it.. we have a hacky wiki here.. and well it was just a little work to do (I had been meaning to do it for a long time) so yeah.. the new feature is in the works now. —DavidPoole

Love the burger pic btw. —ChrisThompson

2008-05-17 13:00:21 Hey Daubert, plans for 3rd Strike tonight are canceled. The Leon the Oro guy cant make it and I have some last minute family stuff to take care of. You think next thursday or friday is gonna be good? —KevinKChan

2008-05-28 23:25:47 Hey, you left me a message I guess sort of on Wiki. :) I am still renting from Acadian :( until August 31st and do plan on throwing a fit when they try to take all of my deposit :) Hopefully it will work. Anyway you are welcome to drop me a line as well, but I am not really sure how all this stuff works on here... Jamie Harris —Jamie
2008-05-29 11:05:36 Hey man, will you add that picture of me on your desktop to me webpage on the wiki?? Would be kinda funny... or not im not sure:) Use your best judgement! —BradKern

2008-06-08 15:10:57 i've been wondering, how do you pronounce your last name? is the T silent? —ElleWeber
2008-06-08 21:15:03 I thought Dau-BERT is how you pronounced your name. :) —CurlyGirl26
2008-06-21 12:24:32 Just ordered my copy of "The Hammer". Should arrive some time next week. I'm glad it will be here after my class ends because I'll probably just sit in my house and watch it over and over. —CurlyGirl26
2008-07-15 22:59:59 I know it's incorrect. The most complete biography I could find (which, of course, I can't seem to relocate now) gave a relatively complete timeline of his life, and it did not include Davis. Feel free to remake the page, but I think maybe it should have a better source. —JoePomidor
2008-07-22 23:19:33 Good suggestion! I should draft a clause factoring that in. As much as I hate red left arrows, I don't know that I am ready to trust the masses to do it safely.
Re WWII. I'm not sure. I'd have to think about it. Probably those cool military knives. My grandmother has one of those. The blade is fixed and sharp! Handy in the kitchen, too. —CurlyGirl26
2008-07-23 06:04:47 Hey man... so I dont really have a good way to get a hold of you except for through here, but this is fine. Hope all is well with you! How are my cats? I miss them so... both still around i hope? Done anything fun lately? I have... ill tell you all about it when Im back- —BradKern
2008-07-25 09:17:17 I guess technically they're still there, which is kinda the frustrating part. I go through phases where I delete any photos of me online. it's weird, but makes me feel better sometimes. —PxlAted

2008-08-04 16:52:01 Not sure what is going on. Someone mentioned something about having a Wiki party some time in the near future. Nothing definite yet. And I don't know whether Sunny has something in mind. Keep checking the page! :) —CurlyGirl26
2008-08-05 16:54:15 So I get no response? :( —BradKern
H8 H8 H8 H8 H8 —StevenDaubert
2008-08-05 21:18:48 Personally I'm not too keen on doing a wiki party at my house cause, like at the bbq that happened, there will most likely be people there to take advantage of the situation. A couple times, there were people that just walked by and took food and left. If they knew about the wiki bbq and came by just to snag food or if they were random strangers, I'll never know. But I don't want to have to worry about people coming to my house and jacking stuff. —SunjeetBaadkar

2008-08-14 22:57:44 I thought she was a very good secretary of state, although those gigantic lapel pin things that she wore kind of detracted from her image. :-) —IDoNotExist

2008-08-20 18:58:38 Hey Steve. You asked about A la Cart Legal and Coffee? It is run by a lady in her mid fifties or so Susan Garcia-Swain. She is an attorney as well as an MD I believe. She gives legal advice by appointment. I don't know how much. I had a girl friend going through a divorce and my friend had a crappy attorney. So she would go in for 20 minutes and have Susan analyze her case and make recommendations. Susan does not take cases, so she is not fishing for clients and she does not have any deals or alliances with other firms. If you have ever dealt with lawyers you know A). There are a lot of crappy ones out there. B). Since they are policed by their own, the State Bar Association, you know nothing is ever done and complaints are hidden from the public as "confidential personnel matters." So an attorney can have tons of complaints and the pubic never knows... C). Attorneys often have quid pro quo deals with other firms. They all lie about this. But if they have to keep their hands in their pockets representing some little guy so they can get a deal with the little guy's opposing law firm... well who do you think gets sold out? The opposing law firm with a money making deal down the road? Or the little guy? Anyway Susan used to be at 32st & J st but I read she moved over by the Sacramento Food Coop, 30th and N st or something. Make an appointment, be organized, take all your paperwork, take a note pad. She will look over your stuff ask questions and then start firing recommendations. Right them down. My friend got really good advice from her. If you have a problem and don't know how to proceed or if you have an attorney that you suspect sucks... try her. The place has a bit of a feminist vibe, women screwed over in divorces etc., so be polite. I would suggest Junior Republicans go use their dad's attorney... for the rest of us Susan is a good deal. —LouisM
2008-08-21 02:26:18 STD YOU ARE MY DAVIS IDOL < IM GLAD I FOUND YOUR PAGE THIS SHIT IS HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!Gari —Gspears
2008-08-22 09:27:12 Still, no one is noticing my drops. Today, this guy was talking about how he didn't brief his cases so I dropped "Unacceptable". There was no mistaking it either. It was loud. Nothing. Then someone else made a racist comment and this chick got offended so I dropped the "There is no racial bigotry here". Again, nothing.
Apparently, no one finds this crap funny, but me. —CurlyGirl26
2008-08-22 10:26:45 "Who is number one?" —CurlyGirl26

2008-08-24 15:08:21 Tenedora is a Lt. now? Really?! And why is he a town "character"? Just curious. —CurlyGirl26
2008-08-24 15:17:06 Didn't know that he went by the elementary school.
Or that he is a "swell guy."
2008-08-24 15:25:08 Yea, I knew he was with DPD for years and years so that makes sense. —CurlyGirl26

2008-08-24 17:33:24 JA or JW will be by soon for some spifying and the like... uh... yeah... You too can spify up an entry. Do not make the gnomes feel like they are being taken for granted. Gnomes are not quick to anger, but they have extremely mercurial senses of humor. —JasonAller
2008-08-25 08:12:47 Sorry about that. I didn't notice I knocked out any comments. I was just trying to remove an unnecessary statement that the cop was "observed giving a traffic ticket". —TheAmazingLarry
2008-08-25 12:09:27 Meh, college kids are pretty dumb as well. —JesseSingh
2008-08-25 12:47:43 "Probably fairly change it" doesn't inspire confidence in the model. At any given moment, the information presented to me may or may not be accurate. In fact, because this is not a NPOV wiki, "fair" is a very subjective term. For example, Mishka's coffee had "consistently the best coffee in Davis" written not in a comment, but the main article. Philip's brilliant argument for this inclusion was basically "c'mon, it's obvious", and the statement was left there for months before it was finally changed (after much discussion). The page on the recent "Wood Burning" law includes the line "Some say this is ridiculous", without actually explaining who the "some" are. This is a technique commonly done by FOX news to interject personal opinion without taking personal responsibility. These two examples are clear opinions, but they also are regarded by the community as "fair" by their unwillingness to change it (if your gnome theory is true).
Really, you can't rely on members of the community to take care of these problems because these problems stem from the very existence of a community. To put it simply, the worst thing DWiki has done to the concept of "probable fairness" is to create a community. —JesseSingh
2008-08-25 20:55:57 If you are editing the page to fix your links, why not fix all the other ones on the page at the same time? It helps others out. —JasonAller
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah, I was thinking that, I was just trying gnomage on for size... I'm sure you saw the one where I did it for the group... —StevenDaubert
2008-08-26 21:05:50 I was sort of hoping that the term be removed from his site altogether. Ivisibly or not. I'm afraid that this goes back to mine and everyones problem with it in the beginning. —gager
2008-08-27 16:49:48 So what did the email say? —mikewaltz
2008-08-28 17:33:49 . . .Asian Big Boob Queen.
Did you finish it? Dude, I am so craving Guad right now. I don't know whether I can convince my dinner buddy to go there tonight. —CurlyGirl26
2008-08-29 00:30:17 Good job!
Oh, I totally noticed you calling me out on my old comment! I actually meant to acknowledge that earlier. It's just that today was a Mother. —CurlyGirl26
2008-08-29 00:31:03 Oh, and how DARE you! Call me out like that. . . —CurlyGirl26
2008-08-29 10:34:20 Hee! I totally use the "How DARE you" all the time now. Of course, no one here gets the reference. Nor did anyone appreciate all of my drops in last night's meeting. —CurlyGirl26
2008-08-29 10:43:06 ...oh geez. Your number one asian etc convo got me to googling. -_- —SunjeetBaadkar
2008-08-30 22:07:40 I've been trying to get ahold of you. CurlyGirl26 wants to meet up with you for lunch tomorrow.... tried to find you on skype. Nick doesn't have your number. What say you? Brent wants to come, too. —WilliamLewis

2008-08-31 14:50:44 Happy Birthday, Daubert!
Perhaps when things calm down, you can come out and have a meal with us. I'd like to meet you.
Oh and I'm still looking for those old podcasts where Adam talks about the old Loveline days and why he didn't like Anderson. I didn't forget! —CurlyGirl26

2008-09-08 19:56:11 I just got home and saw your message! I'm sorry to have missed you. I promise you, if I make it, I will be the coolest lawyer.
I'm not surprised that you saw what you saw today. I come in contact with those people every day. Most are super blowhardy and have an undeserved sense of entitlement. No wonder Adam hates lawyers.
Anyhoo, when things calm down, let me know! And say hi to your mom for me! —CurlyGirl26
2008-09-09 10:46:19 Yea, my self-esteem is especially low this week. —CurlyGirl26
2008-09-09 19:31:31 Hey, how about the South Davis Guad? Think you'll be up for that? —CurlyGirl26
2008-09-09 23:05:12 It's the one in the El Macero shopping center (next to the South Nugget). The food is just as good as their north location, but it is slightly nicer. And less crowded, usually.
But yea, let's see what we're feeling. —CurlyGirl26
2008-09-10 15:14:02 *sigh* Minka is...
Anywho, after much thought, I realize I must know everyone in this town by three degrees (if not most by two). I really should get out of here before it becomes a degree of one... —SunjeetBaadkar
2008-09-11 19:32:03 Hey Numba One, how does Sunday evening sound—for dinner? —CurlyGirl26

2008-09-13 20:38:03 I received your text. Hopefully, you are able to receive my reply. —CurlyGirl26
2008-09-16 11:07:09 Steve's breadsticks with cheese, mmmmmmmmmm. I've been eating those since, literally, high school. I'm craving some now. . . —CurlyGirl26
2008-09-22 10:56:13 yeah you're right. the comment wasn't at all relevant to woodstocks, so I just now moved it to the general pizza discussion page. —BenJohnson
2008-09-22 12:20:11 Well, I didn't see any of the other book-swap or booksale websites on there, so I figured that the page was intended for brick-and-mortar bookstores. —JoePomidor
2008-09-29 19:27:01 Can you move the Bill Richter's Cart Service page to Woodland wiki? —JasonAller
2008-09-30 00:20:28 Who's Numba one? —CurlyGirl26
2008-09-30 11:10:24 Haha . . .alas, I am no Minka. —CurlyGirl26
2008-09-30 13:38:32 I accidently dropped a Minka In class today. And of course, NO ONE laughed. Well, no students anyway. I was surprised that the professor thought it was hilarious. But not one goddamned student laughed. This is what I deal with every day. —CurlyGirl26
2008-10-01 13:12:31 What passes for "humor" (among students here) is painful. They laugh hysterically at lame jokes and yet nothing when something truly funny happens. —CurlyGirl26
2008-10-02 13:16:21 People here are even worse today. What passes for humor is horrendous. Why are people laughing at S**t that is not funny? —CurlyGirl26
2008-10-03 04:15:41 Hey, whats up? You should hang out in IRC and then we will go to IHOP or somewhere late at night. —NickSchmalenberger
2008-10-03 13:45:12 Hopefully I can manage not to eff this up. —CurlyGirl26
2008-10-05 21:07:57 I ask myself that same question every time I run into him, since it seems impossible to run into someone who doesn't actually exist. And yet here I am, scheduling a meeting with a non-existent person in order to meet actual existent wiki-folk. What a strange and confusing world I live in! —StaceyEllis
2008-10-07 01:09:59 No problem =)
It's been too long since I've done anything on the wiki other than troll, so I figure I should just do little grammar fixes from time to time. —EliYani

2008-10-09 17:19:30 No no no... I was considering what to do. I would be more than happy to check it out sometime, but I'm still reeling from the student rush. If it could wait until the slow season, Nov, I can take a shot at it. But no promises... —Aaron.Curtin

2008-11-18 09:05:33 what is a wiki badge award? To answer your question about sanding teeth down; Yes this can be done safely in the right setting. Dentists will sometimes do this to adjust how the teeth meet togeather or to remove sharp edges on the teeth. However if you remove too much enamel you may expose the dentin, which is often very sensative to touch and cold, so I dont recommend you try it at home. —DagonJones
2008-11-19 10:14:53 Thank you for your nice comments, please tell me about this mobile dentist? Is there a mobile dentist that accepts ychip? I thought ychip was only serviced through Communicare health centers. —DagonJones
2008-11-24 14:25:04 Excuse me, have we met? —CurlyGirl26

2008-11-29 11:44:06 What sounds really funny in your head or out loud often doesn't translate as well when reduced to text and read out of context. A second reading of anything that requires "j/k" is probably in order especially when dealing with someone new to the wiki. —JasonAller

2008-12-14 10:19:24 A square is a kind of rectangle, but a rectangle is not a square. The page is about Christmas specifically. —EdWins
2008-12-14 21:41:03 Better, thanks. I get really fed up with the "everyone should be celebrating christmas or you're a scrooge" that goes on this time of year. —CovertProfessor
2008-12-18 13:50:24 Yea, I miss the scenery and geography in Santa Cruz a lot — except for having to ride uphill half the time. As for the campus' liability on 4/20, it's a really tough issue because there are SO many people going there for something that the university cannot sanction. Last year they pretty much made it impossible to get onto campus if you weren't a student with a parking permit. Anyways, I am definitely digging the North Greenbelts, out by The Dominoes. —TimMatthiessen
2008-12-21 10:59:57 Hey Stephen, thanks for the comment reply and the welcome. Well, I had the same service from 2 different dental offices and it was fairly more expensive (80% more for that particular service) from Dr. M. However, another thought it was only one-time visit at both offices (still testing water here) so I cannot really give much judgement (although Dr. M's office environment and his staff were nicer.) I'd want to delete the comment if it would affect his business. But I don't know how. Please let me know how, i'll be appreciated. Thanks! —superdavis
2008-12-21 11:03:09 If you want to add it to the entry: prove it. Links, verifiable facts. The page is about Christmas, *not* the solstice and it's variations. If you really feel so keen about adding that, make it a new page that it actually fits. —EdWins
2008-12-21 13:06:36 Actually, I was referring to EdWins, who "demoted" all our edits by moving them to the comment ghetto. Unless you're implying something I missed, by the way, you are agreeing with me: people celebrated X and as different religions and cultures flowed over them through history, they picked up different bits and pieces and occasionally got renamed. For a modern version, Memorial Day was observed in many places and eventually were all absorbed into one observance. Who is the "force" that did that? You can point to a day that Congress recognized a single day, but that's just the recognition of a cultural shift that was already occurring — no one group "stole" it from the other. People celebrated a harvest day through antiquity... it was celebrated in the new colonies and becomes known as Thanksgiving. The people were just celebrating the harvest the same way their ancestors had... they created a new holiday with new traditions. But they were still the same people celebrating the same holiday. —JabberWokky
2008-12-21 13:52:04 Dates for Jesus' birth in the winter are based on some admittedly speculative estimates for Jesus' conception. Such estimates predate any significant evangelistic efforts in areas where the Winter Solstice was a major celebration. Contrary to popular belief, Christmas was not placed near the Solstice to aid in evangelistic efforts. —WilliamLewis
2008-12-21 17:26:14 It looks like I read the history for the entry incorrectly, and it was a series of edits that caused the chunk to move down. My mistake. —JabberWokky no harm no foul? I still don't see where you went wrong... —StevenDaubert
2008-12-27 10:16:21 Yup, sometime in the next 6 months. I'm leaving for something new. I originally stayed for all the wrong reasons and need a change of scenery. I hope to find that change in San Diego. I'll definitely come back to visit as I have friends that intend on staying, but I don't know how long my visits will be. —SunjeetBaadkar

2009-02-05 15:39:10 Yeah, it's how I procrastinate. In response to your earlier comment about deleting it myself: as you can see, I do. I just typically think it's lame when one person goes on a rampage doing their own thing. So if I dislike something, I'll ask on a talk page and see if anyone else agrees or can change my mind. And since I brought it up, I try to let other people finish it and don't do the edits myself. When other people dislike things and bring it up, I'll eventually come by and do the edits. I'm kind of a fan of cutting down on redundancy, and trying to keep the wiki stocked with more solid entries. Ideally a lot of pages could be merged and better organized. Years ago I used to de-link orphans, but a while ago I wanted to take on the zillion open-ended talk pages. —EdWins

2009-11-01 15:52:40 It is creepy when you find out someone in the CS dept is using it as part of a project with facial recognition. I also just don't think a business should get to use me for free publicity which is what the camera is. —OliviaY

2010-01-27 10:01:40 the crimes of the US abroad are what makes paying war taxes a joke. I say don't support any murderous government. (period). 2010-01-27 10:26:38 I thought the 'wat' comment was lame. Sorry man. —EdWins

2010-01-28 20:37:40 Do whatever you want and don't let the drama llama eat your pants. I suppose you could feed it carrots if it looks hungry, though. —WilliamLewis
2010-01-28 22:25:55 I'm not sure if it's because of all the drama currently flying around here or what, but—and I truly intend this in the most constructive way possible—it seems like you're really overreacting. Philip certainly didn't need to remove the comment, but it isn't the end of the wiki as we know it. The problem with "wat" isn't that you're a horrible human being for typing it, or that you shouldn't post what you think. It's that "wat" is utterly ambiguous and meaningless without the context of your other thoughts. I'll admit that I rolled my eyes when I read it, although I wouldn't have altered or removed it. May I suggest that you take a step back, take a deep breath, and try to look at it from everyone else's perspective? —TomGarberson
2010-01-29 08:06:32 That's fair. Thanks for the reply. —TomGarberson
2010-01-31 20:57:01 The primary way the wiki works is that anyone can edit anything anyone else writes. Comments are just a convenient way to contribute, but anyone else can still edit or delete them in the normal way. Conventionally people have generally not edited such texts added by others so as to preserve individual voices, but sometimes some people may think editing or deleting a comment is appropriate, and I think this is generally appropriate in the greater way of the wiki. —NickSchmalenberger
2010-02-06 04:24:59 You silly! *throws fruit at you* —NickSchmalenberger
2010-02-07 12:09:55 New England/Northeastern style wings are kind of their own thing. I'd never had any until the past few years, and it is probably the only food I'll miss from this area (Sarah pointed it out as she was reading the P/D page over my shoulder). Places that specialize in wings are completely different than barbeque or fried chicken restaurants. There are at least a dozen places that just sell wings in State College, PA, each of which is unique and has dozens of sauces and ways of doing their wings. One sushi place, two Chinese places, but a couple dozen wing places. Like other things on the list: bagels, barbeque and Italian restaurants, it's a item food that can be found everywhere, but good examples tend to require a high density in the region to make it competitive enough to have it be the sole focus of several restaurants. After all, you can get "BBQ" (and wings) at Applebees. That doesn't mean Davis has a barbeque joint. It's also probably why people go on about pizza in New York City or... I don't know... cheese curds in Wisconsin. Although a good wing shop makes more sense in Davis than a cheese curd shop (and might actually do really well). :) —JabberWokky
2010-02-07 14:23:47 Delete the Aggie Liquor page because it does not have the correct price for the Budlite keg and you didn't get it approved by the owner. —jass
2010-02-10 12:51:06 I'm not too up to date on the whole MUGA downsizing due to the MU expansion, but I was under the impression that the games area would only take a hit during the major weeks for the bookstore (and even this would be limited to the pool room). While I think that sucks and all, I can see the administrations plight in needing to save funding in the construction process. So long as all the bowling lanes are kept open then all is well. —RyanMeyerhoff
2010-02-12 14:34:25 Hey, what date is that Aggie you were talking about? The 11th is on the website, and Jason mentions that he doesn't see one for today out on a stand. —JabberWokky

2010-04-20 07:20:02 Huh... go figure. They apparently decided to switch things up in some way. We used to go there for a pint on special occasions in lawl school, and every single time I got food I was disappointed. I generally felt that I would have been better off going next door to taco bell. Maybe just bad luck a few times, or something. From my experience, though, it seems like they've made some big changes for the better. —TomGarberson
2010-04-21 12:23:36 Whatever the reason, good on them for making some positive changes. I don't make it by that way very often anymore, but when I do it'll be someplace I'll actually consider for lunch. —TomGarberson

A one liner (sometimes just a few words) that you leave with a signature is usually no different than any other thing below the comment line: it's just not timestamped. Just because it's located in the entry doesn't mean it's actually integrated into the entry. Even in the past, before the comment bar, people would leave signed comments below the entry that were italicized, so actually I believe that if we're talking traditional, it's really the precursor to the modern wiki comment that he's doing. Back then, there simply was no comment bar so by default it'd end up on the bottom of the page and thus begin the comment threading... IMO, that's why there had been "resistance," as that wasn't really traditional integration at all. Minor sidepoint :P (In the case linked above about Steve's Pizza though, I thought that was pretty funny and entry-worthy. In that case, the link is neccessary. Talking about integration vs a comment, I'm referring to the "get the XYZ sandwich - Daubert" edits you sometimes had left just below the entry, but above the comment bar, which seemed to stand out to a lot of people - for some of why I tried to explain above.) —EdWins
- True, they are somewhat different. But banter in the entry as part of the entry is a type of integration, if it's a dialog or the (sometimes more awkward) format of "Bob asserts that it's blue, but Connie points out that the sky is actually orange". Dialog and one liners are more loosely integrated, sure. And I understand your point about them not being tied to the rest of the entry... but then, sometimes there are whole paragraphs in entries that are barely tied together at all. There's no homogenization among entries, for good and ill: it keeps things evolving. -jw

2010-05-25 00:31:42 haha. In reality, their getting aggressive with me seemed kind of retarded. I didn't think much of it. She was a shitty thrower, and the deodorant mace was pretty weak. Really, I'm more pissed off that they are preying on nice people. But I suppose you're right. I'll hit up Neves next time I see him. —JamesMadden
- I just realized how funny "deodorant mace" sounds if taken out of context, as in a morning star sprayed with Cologne (or better, AXE) one would use to punish people with terrible BO. —EBT

2010-05-26 21:11:52 Thanks for the legwork, seriously. Everything in my post BEFORE the wiki link was from my friends and colleagues. Everything after the wiki link I garnered from your (and others) comments... I could have done a better job attributing that. I will certainly do so next time. I never took any journalism courses, so I'm lacking in that area. Thanks for understanding. BTW - I sent a bunch of info to The Enterprise. The two links I included were the wiki and my story. 2010-05-31 17:08:36 Whups — glad I mentioned it to you! The whole thing needs some "scoop it together into something that can be read" effort. I've been doing hit and run edits for the last several days: tomorrow morning my company rolls out a big new product to our clients and next week we do the big public reveal at an expo, so I've been frantically working overtime. That particular entry really needs some slow and careful editing, and all the election entries could use some cleanup and easy front page linkage for people looking for quick information to get an idea of what their options are when voting. There's not much time left to get it all together. —JabberWokky

2010-06-16 13:48:21 The Chat entry is a perfect answer. I happened to be on the phone with Jason while you replied to him. Jason's editing on his iPhone while travelling, so moving stuff around is harder than it would normally be. I don't think he meant the "Behave" to sound as dismissive as it came off (honestly, I've looked back at edit comments I've made and been horrified at how they could be read. Something about that field can really make you appear way more harsh than your actual intent). I even said to him "I think that edit comment comes off a bit more dismissive than you intended", and he said it just meant to refer to the general fact that we're about get a bunch of outsider visitors. His biggest complaint is that because he's on the iPhone he can't add a bunch of content so the RC looks pretty today. :) At any rate, your Chat entry is a great idea that solves it both ways: keeping the Front Page clean and minimal but allowing lots of people to comment. Today is a day for celebration, anyway! —JabberWokky

2010-06-16 15:02:26 I know the feeling! —CovertProfessor
2010-06-16 15:24:38 Yeah, the "behave" did come across dismissively. While I can't really speak for him, I was on the phone with him right after that edit, and he said his concern was keeping the front page looking really sharp when there's a decent chance we have new visitors who might be: press, other funding sources, or people from other cities looking to do a Davis Wiki style site. It's a big announcement, and the next couple days we'll have a bunch of people looking at the site to see what we've done. It's pretty cool! —JabberWokky

2010-06-18 10:03:51 I don't know if the DISC in Davis still sells hockey gear, but I used to buy wheels there. Sporting good stores are a crapshoot. Online is your best bet, I recommend quality wheels like Hyper. —MikeIvanov

You set off my "somebody's making a LOT of edits, make sure they aren't vandalizing!" detector. You're now on the (surprisingly short) whitelist. ;) —Evan 'JabberWokky' Edwards
It's really dumb — it just looks at the Recent Changes and gets a count of each unique name (i.e., how many edits each person has). It also sends a notice if certain names are on there (there are a couple odd people who wait and come back every six months to delete a photo or make other edits they hope might slide in under the radar). When I first added the ability to look for common spam phrases, I had it send me a text and check again in a short time. I then left to go run a LARP. It started going off, sending me texts so often they blocked my phone from being able to connect to the net and allow me to fix the problem. I had manged to spam myself with texts so badly I locked myself out from being able to connect. Oops. I wound up calling Jason and asking him to fix it. It's actually not a bad little system and has come in handy in shutting down some of the more heinous examples of abuse. -jw

Not sure whether you meant my comment to you or to Ashley. On the Islamic Center page, I was just concerned that it could seem like a negative comment with no possibly way to respond, since there's no telling what she was talking about. With the vegan thing, your comment was... well, pretty much completely empty. If the whole idea behind the wiki is information, content, value to community, whatever... there wasn't anything there. Why not just drop a link to the page on twitter or facebook for the guy? —tg
It's a comment with no relevance to the page, or even to any current users of the wiki. I'm not saying it's the end of the world, I'm just saying it's a little spot of "wtf is that" on an otherwise useful, relevant wiki page. In my mind, meaningless comments on the wiki are like litter. One by itself isn't really that huge a deal, but it looks bad, and if it became the norm the place'll start to turn into a dump. —TomGarberson
I guess I just feel like the wiki has taken some pretty big hits lately, and it makes me more wary of the little stuff. Like I said, it's really not a big deal. I guess I'm just worried. /shrug —tg

The American Trucking Association is already working on reducing emissions, look at http://www.trucksdeliver.org which I found by searching google for trucking carbon emissions. I think the Davis foundation is probably Davis oriented for other reasons like helping people in Davis feel good about themselves, instead of simply reducing emissions. I think fuel efficiency is a big concern because of peak oil, but I don't think climate change caused by increased carbon is necessarily bad. People will adapt. -NickSchmalenberger

After speaking to the tech who had to fix my cable (new subscription/upgrade form Internet alone) I saw him remove a filter from my service line and asked what it was he had removed. He told me it was a filter that they used to use which limited the data channel to #79 which was an extremely high volume channel and had max of 4mbs potential (I have been paying for 16mbs for the last two years, and 8 mbs for the year and a half prior to that both services with Blast! (which gives you a couple of seconds of higher speeds when initially downloading anything). Basically it is the difference between $25.00 x 18 mos and $48.00 x 24 mos, just for the service price difference I was paying for according to the tech I spoke to and to the CSR at the payment center I am owed approximately $1500.00 in credit. So I was told I would have to speak to a supervisor who would contact me (no later than 24 hours after speaking to the Rep on Monday) because the credit I was owed would be too high for the rep to give without supervisor approval. Still no contact to this day. ALready speaking to an attorney about it and may end up suing for refund if nothing else in addition to canceling service IF they do not fix it soon. — Wes-P
For the price people pay for Comcast, they shouldn't have any reliability expectations at all. Thats not bad either, its just cheap, and its usually good enough (doing this on comcast, works great most of the time, tra la la). —NickSchmalenberger

I do care about the dog seating — it's very important!! Generally speaking, though, any take-out place with tables on the sidewalk will allow dogs. Hell, anyone could sit there at any time. It's the places with patios and wait service that may or may not. But still — good to know that TC has dog-friendly tables. I haven't been there yet, but hope to do so soon. —cp

Steve-sorry I reverted your edit on State Farm Insurance (Raul Herrera) but unless you have a personal relationship with the business owner or this was some type of Inside joke, I didn't think it was appropriate to put that on their page. —PeteB
Reverted you again man—if you think this other rep is so good, create a separate page for him. Don't corrupt a businessman's page like that....-PeteB
- Agreed. Raul paid good money to purchase that page, and it's very insensitive of you to express your opinions! The views and opinions of the people of Davis have no place on this business listing site! Also, don't even THINK about sockpuppeting, even as a joke! —MamaBunkley
Steve—my original approach to you was not out of malice. I explained I why I have reverted it. As for not reverting ANY of your edits EVER, umm....sure -Good luck with that friend. This is a community wiki—anyone's edits can be reverted or edited at any time if there is concern. Thx -PeteB

The sting fares are simple: After I began working at the bar it was brought to my attention by a patron that different cabs were charging different amounts to transport him to the exact same location. This was okay with me initially, some cabs might have slightly different rates in general. As the conversation progressed, it was revealed that he was sometimes not being metered, had to share a ride as the cabs would sometimes pick up other fares, and still be charged full price or higher. To go from the bar to his home he was being billed anywhere $8.00 up to $16.00 depending on how inebriated he seemed to be. I found this to be almost unbelievable so I asked a few others I was friendly with to start using different cabs. Sometimes I would even give them the money for the fares. Turns out, he was telling the truth. Some of the cab drivers were blatantly conning people and the most consistent violator was 24/7 cab company. The most reliable were:Village Cab (also the the cheapest rate on average), Davis Cab and Friendly Cab. Each person had different experience with different drivers they either did or did not like about each company, but the bottom line was this: If you are drinking downtown and don't wish to be ripped off, stay away from 24/7... especially if you've been drinking. They will run without the meter on, charge you excessively high rates and often drive a very long "scenic" route from point A to B. If confronted about the route, as one of the Sting Fares stated he did, the 24/7 drivers yell at you not to tell them how to drive or where to drive. Kind of disturbing. Keep in mind this was not a true scientific experiment and each company had good drivers as well as bad, decent fares as well as excessive, but the most consistently poor service and fares were all from 24/7. Bad luck with the drivers? Maybe, there are three of them in town now. I am seriously considering using discreet recording equipment as well as keeping logs of this activity to get much more specific data, but I trust the people I used for this 2 month experiment.
As a side note, I also asked one of them to use the Pedi-Cab, and felt badly afterward. Their service is tip service only, with no meters and no set rates, and the patron didn't have a lot of cash on them so I feel the Pedi-driver was ripped off. o.O — Wes-P

I don't know — it just seemed right. A couple other people did, and it felt like the wiki equivalent of a black arm band or flying a flag at half mast. It's temporary. And not entirely blank... just simplified. When everything gets too philosophical and theoretical, despite people getting progressively more and more upset, going really simple seems to help. -jw
Given the guy's track record, I don't really expect to change anything. It was more of a heads-up. If he can't play civilly, he can always find another sandbox to shit in (my opinion only, of course). I do always find the "my life's tough so I can be an asshole to anyone and everyone, and no one can say boo" attitude interesting, but it only goes so far. —tg
- Pretty much my take. He seems to now understand the boundaries, which he didn't when I banned him earlier for a brief, hot rampage. After that, it's up to the community to figure out when they've collectively had enough. The edges he's pushing are pretty interesting; if it weren't for the attitude and the fact that everybody is just bone weary of Cab related conflict, I'd call his edits genuinely thought provoking. -jw
Oh, and I got your message — I was taking a nap, as I wasn't joking when I told Josh I was sick this weekend. Starting to feel better now, however. -jw
Haha my bad. Only takes about 20 minutes to flip through 100-ish edits and look for ones that fit a category... Apparently, though, that covered up my entire point (which was quoted from AH). —tg
Hey I realized later on (but was too lazy to change it) that what I really meant in what I wrote was that you can't *penetrate* a penis. Obviously it is possible, though still very uncommon, to rape a man via the penis. Something about penetration is what specifically makes rape so invasive (hah) and that was what I meant to write. There is one case I know of with a male urethra stretched to accommodate another penis but it was consensual and require a long period of time to do. Either way the point is still the same that men are raped far less frequently outside the prison system than women. —oy

Actually, most of the problems have been with the out of towners. They are trying to come down hard on all the bars when, if looking at the past and the issues that have arisen, there have only ever been 4 bars with issues on Picnic Day: G Street Pub, The Graduate, Uncle Vitos and Agave/Sogas... two of which are now closed and Vitos will not be serving alcohol this year... it's truly idiotic. — Wes-P
I asked them about a few houses they had out for rent and they gave a really short reply about them not being available anymore, except with poor grammar and more terseness. Sort of Soup-Nazi-ish, except even less words. They still have the "For Rent" signs out in front of those locations though. Shame really, because most of the newly painted places are being rented out by them. —hankim

I'm about to hit the hay, so I'll cop out and just link it: 47 USC 230. I use leginfo sometimes if I'm just doing a quick search... the paid legal search engines are a lot better (explanations, summaries of important cases, links or citations to secondary sources, etc.), but for some stupid reason they load absurdly slowly, so if I just want a quick reference, Google pops me over to leginfo. Of course, the website makes me feel like I'm back working on my Geocities home page in my middle school computer class... —TomGarberson

"Fox News Alert page" - love it! Wondering how many more alerts the front page can handle. —PhilipNeustrom
Somehow I ended up on your page via random clicks, long after your "Welcome" post. Thanks! -RB
Save one with [[BR]], but be warned — with no outgoing links, the Allermonster may change it. There is a way to make a hidden link (works on most browsers), but I'd have to scour the wiki for an example. It involves a funky "zero width space" character that you have to copy and paste. -jw
I just had a vision of Jason at the next wiki gathering wearing a set of Dagon's freaky teeth and a sign saying ["Welcome to the Wiki"], motherfucker! —TomGarberson
If it were a Syfy made-for-tv-movie, it would be due to some freakish accident involving crossing Jason and Josh. Joshon Allson, the profane outreach half gnome/half troll. It graciously helps you and then runs you off the wiki. Bearded with wrap around sunglasses, marching through downtown, causing mothers to weep and hide their children, and grown men to lose control of their bowels in quivering fear at the creature that haunts Davis. The only hope? Daubert riding in on his scooter, a crossbow lashed to his back! Arrows fletched in blue arc up and down 3rd street, slaying the hideous beast! Flashing a smile and shaking the hands of the assembled Davisites, he rides off into — well, after picking himself back up — he rides off down the downtown grid,1 having made Davis safe for all manner of people once more. -jw
Yeah, brah. Good luck with that. —hankim
Hey, what's your e-mail? Or drop me a line, [email protected] —tg
I'm done but I'm done because Phil doesn't get it. Daubs it (meaning the wiki) has been explained to him (Phil) now probably a dozen times and he just refuses to listen at all. Someone already tried explaining it to him IRL I think.... Anyway dramarama. —OY
Heh me too. I'll be around most evenings this week, I think (not tonight, though). Lemme know. —tg (559-355-5814)
Thanks. Nice '@' dig. —cp
I am normally free in the later afternoon. Always down for meeting new people. —Dozer
Wait is there a macro that signs changes automatically? **legitimately disappointed. ): —ClarenceL
time to adopt another Flemish Giant? —MeggoWaffle
I put the stickers out for you! Wasn't sure if I should text this early. —tg
It's irregularly descending, but increasing in frequency. —DonShor
Yup but it's broken so there's no video. -Megan
I WISH I was wrong about the broken cameras, then all those A-holes on the Enterprise website could watch it and STFU.
Hi Daubert, I noticed that you are on the Noteworthy Local Authors page. Thats awesome! Can I pick your brain for a sec about getting published? A literary agent has been in contact with me and has my book proposal. He asked for more. I was hoping to be in touch with someone who may have insights about this process, I have no clue! Thanks! —jsbmeb [email protected]
I can guess, but it involves cutting and pasting the example into the wrong place... and then accidentally adding an "o". But it would be an utter guess. -jw
You just don't have the magic touch that I do. —CovertProfessor
I like your ascii faces. I still do the old-fashioned sideways ones. —cp
That's a good one, too. —cp
They are new, so they may well not realize they can speak up or edit the same as everybody else (a common misunderstanding on the wiki, which is sad and scary). I was trying to get the new people to see the Talk page and speak up, not the same set who discuss everything (often to death). -jw
And I was trying to get TG to at least see my point of view, even if he didn't agree, rather than get into an edit war that I know neither of us wanted. In fact, now that we've hashed that out it might make sense to delete it so as to make the Talk page less intimidating for others. —cp
Don't know what to say. Maybe they got tired of me giving them the evil eye. —cp
Going for an all-time latency record here. Dad loved the lemon gelato! —EdHenn
Never. Huge spiders and a lack of Taco Bells frighten me. —hankim
That photo was shooped. The closest I've been to Australia was when I wore a pair of Zyzz shorts with the Australian flag on them. —hankim
- I could tell it was shooped. I looked at the pixells, and I've seen some shooped photos in my day. -TheInternets

Looking for like a 3 or 4-piece band that does a range of stuff, including at least a few rock songs from the 90's and 2000's and more laid back, instrumental type stuff as well. What's your buddy's band/contact info? You can email me, mivanov at gmail. —MikeIvanov
Excuse me, Sir. Have we met? —CurlyGirl26
Has anybody ever tried to call you "Dobby"? If so, did you pimp-slap that bitch? Or did you simply let it go... as calm and clear-headed as the azure sky. Just wondering. —ScottMeehleib
Yeah, Dogbert is cool! Been a while since I've seen that character. —ScottMeehleib
I'm actually on the road, so I'm using different internet connections. I haven't noticed anything horrible (time outs or python barf or anything), but I have often been on slow connections or random WiFi. -jw
??? -EliseKane
Your sixth sense is stronger than mine, man. Don't lose your gift! You should do some sort of Davis paranormal show on the public access network. —ScottMeehleib
Your "Dan's Taxi" redirect appears to set a bad precedent for taxis and other business pages. You may want to reconsider. —BruceHansen
It seemed that if I started with all the cab cos. whose names ended in "Cab" and made redirects from non actual names ending in "Taxi" there could start to be a problem with those non actual name redirects. -bh
' Could be so imho. -bh
Bad times for breweries. -jw
I just wanted to say "hi daubert" or "hola dauberto" as one might say in Espanol. Cheers! —ScottMeehleib
Heh... thanks. Perhaps the person will figure out to emphasize the positive instead of the negative. —cp
If true, unfortunate... the point still remains that he was not what he appeared to be.
Things are going pretty well for me, just the usual too much work to do and too much procrastination — how about you? —cp
Yeah, I pretty much ran out of things to bitch about anyway. I'll let the community decide the rest. Back to the grind, as they say. —ScottMeehleib
You or I might not always agree with SM, but I've noticed that when he takes a stand on something, it's always a principled stand that he feels deeply about. I respect that. —cp
Tough love. —cp
I almost called, but instead gave my number so that they can call me if/when they want to. -jw
We must stop this! There will be collateral damage. —cp
Yep, took the toys away and went home. —cp
Is it just me, or are people who do marketing work at UCD overly sensitive? —hankim
RE: Edit conflicts. Yeah, they are confusing. Their formatting in the page is kinda weird right now, which makes it worse. We won't be able to ditch them off the bat — they're necessary in certain circumstances. Long-term I think it'd be cool to have a 'real time' collaborative editing mode (which reduces the need for edit conflicts). Real-time editing doesn't jive completely with the way wiki editing tends to work, but I think it could be useful sometimes. E.g. you go to edit a page and if someone else is also editing it you have the option to edit it in real-time with them. There are some technical hurdles to overcome with implementing real-time editing, so we're focusing on just making normal editing much easier at first.
RE: Searching. Yeah, that's because the way the search works is by breaking things into little words based on spaces. Because my name doesn't have a space in it (in the page title), it's hard for the search engine to find it. We're almost certainly going to unify the search — not "title matches" + "full text matches" but just "results" — which will make finding that kind of thing easier. —PhilipNeustrom
Nah, I'm OK w/two digits. It was the stray apostrophe that I went in to fix, but as long as I was there, I gave it the full date. '11 would have been OK, but not 11'. —cp
Maybe I was just bribed by a group of large and muscly young men. -hankim
Are you talking about the Local Food page? —cp
I disagree. For example, the town is up in arms about the proposed water tax, but you'd hardly know that from looking at the wiki. There are a lot of issues like that, past and present. Cell phone towers are another one. Some businesses are hardly documented at all; many of the UCD majors pages could use some love. There is a lot of history to be written, plus new groups and things popping up all the time. I feel like we don't have enough regular editors right now to keep up with all the stuff. —cp
- Seductive nearly empty entry... ooooo.... Also there's a ton of research being done on campus that could benefit from some notes. Every time I spelunk the news or UCD's site, I find neat things. As the quote goes, "No time for love, Dr. Jones." -jw
Agreed that the wiki is amazingly and pleasingly full of good stuff. I just think there's a lot more out there. Would be great if you got a picture of one of the test cell towers. —cp
Never been cause it's always been a little out of the way, although I have been wanting to try their nacho fries. —hankim
Josh or Losh for which? If you mean my comment to Wes, it was Josh. Losh is a troll, Josh tried to harm people through the wiki and drive others off of it.
As for wings: hell yeah! —tg
Hell yeah for wings as well. Also, in order to save gas I lift up my car and move it, so it is hard work! —hankim
FUUUAAARK! I'm hungry now. —hankim
Why, what about it? —cp
Yes, but I am curious why you think so. —cp
I am aware that all of the information is not there, not yet anyway. It will require a lot more research, but it's a start with the cabs. I am trying to get as much info as possible and will be visiting several places, both online and off, to add more information as it becomes available for all of them. Didn't even think about the weights and measures thing though and that was a very good point to be made. It's also another reason why it should be a group effort to assist for others who might know things I do not to chime in. It would be even more amazing if the cabs themselves would include this information to aid the wiki community and the larger Davis community as a whole. — wes
Fair enough. I will try to read it. It's just that the new quarter starts soon and things are getting busy, so I was looking for the preview. —cp
There was nothing wrong with the edit, it is relevant and equal across the board. It is also only temporary as I will be doig further research manually to update all cabs over the next two weeks. Notice the special annotation I made on the page stating specifically That Dan's cab is a new cab. He can update the information if he wishes, saving me the research. I am reverting back. Also, if you do wish to change the information again, at least maintain the structure to keep it equal across the board. I don't want any cab company or individual even attempting to state I am showing preference. I am doing these things to prevent any further cab drama, not create more. Thanks. — Wes
If you look again, I reverted but added an update. There is no # on the seal, but the update stating it is licensed for 2011 has been annotated. — Wes
You are correct. Seal are not numbered, but each business granted a seal is also granted a number to coincide with the validity of the seal. Similar to a business license number. Check it out for yourself if you like. — Wes It's not blatantly apparent, and the only public records are a year old. You reverted stuff when I was in the process of integrating it into the article. I don't agree with the unspoken norms that have spoken up re formatting / linking and I'm not budging so like I said before in plain english: Spend your energy elsewhere on this one Daubert
- Tell you what.. I will call truce, as long as you agree to make the exact same changes across the board on all cabs. The info online is only available for the year prior, and is updated every April. For more accurate information one needs to actually do a records search with the dept. So, if you want to waste time arguing with me, I'm out. I am trying to make all this information equal across the board, as I have previously mentioned. All I ask is that if you alter the formatting of the information on one cab, do it on all as I am researching and updating them all. if you want to waste your time doing the research as I am doing, feel free and spare me the burden I have taken on in trying to help prevent any more BS on the wiki from these cab drivers and all of their infighting. Once the inforamtion is up, there is no more he said/she said drama and there is also no hiding illegality and recklessness on their parts. I'm not trying to fight you, we have the same agenda here, I believe anyway. — Wes
How about we both take a small chill pill, leave it as is for now, if you feel like changing it again same time tomorrow, I won't fight you on it.— wp
I actually like that change. All I was trying to say, and you were too frustrated to take into account, is that the same change is made across the board on all the cabs, not just one who happens to be a mutual friend to both of us.— Wes
I realized the same change was across the board, it just happened while I was silently making the edits to the page in preview mode working with a problem that is vexing but shouldn't be, you catch the by product of my frustration to not get the wiki markup to instantly bend to my will. Daubert
- * Not a problem.. I know fully well the frustrations of the wiki at times. I did make one small change to it, which can be easily changed if it is too much. Live long... and prosper. — Wes
About Friendly Cab? Agreed. —cp
Likewise, my friend! We'll have to meet up again one of these days. —ScottMeehleib
Maybe it could still be generalized down to "Maintenance Hole" then? That or we should note that sewer manholes are or more correctly called "Sanitary Sewer Maintenance Holes". (I totally support Scott's intent, btw, I just have a tiny pet peeve with calling all manholes sewer manholes.)
Please share.
Hey there stranger. . .Excuse me. . .But, um, have we met before?
Yeah, I like the Westlake Market too and would like to see it succeed. But still... —CovertProfessor
I shouldn't admit this, but that show sucks me in every time, which is why I don't turn it on. Anyway, if that really is the Doody Guy, I don't think I'm going to be hiring him any time soon. —cp
NFW!! Are they going to do it? Did the show find out about the drama from the wiki??
I don't watch much TV, either. We dropped our (TV) cable service; the only TV I see is online or DVD. —cp
Yep, Dumpling House is pretty good! I haven't been there in quite some time though. I'd be down to go there again if you're up for it. —ScottMeehleib
Hi Mr. Daubert,
I'm kind of new to the wiki and wasn't sure how to write you back but I think I figured it out. I can definitely share more about the experience. I was really shocked by it/annoyed. I really love the family that owns Cloud Forest. I actually talked to Saulo, the owner's son, about it via email. He was also very frustrated for me and said he would talk to his dad. He also gave me his dad's number but I have yet to connect with him. I was very shocked by the unprofessional behavior of that one employee. I've always been cordial to him and even talk with him frequently about life and his photography while I'm ordering my coffee. SO I was pretty offended by his sudden rudeness and lack of professionalism. I have worked in the food/coffee industry for some time and I have never seen such behavior, and I wasn't expecting any kind of "special treatment". I just assumed that if you didn't have the ingredients posted on your menu, you would be kind enough to inform your customer before making and giving it to them, and I calmly requested to pay extra and switch my order to a sandwich. This request was met by an angry and cold disposition and my money was shoved back onto my table. It was REALLY odd for a place so peaceful like the Cloud Forest Cafe.
DOBB, yep it happened
COWER IN FEAR FB SPEAK N ALL CAPS ALL DAI!!!!!! LULZERZ TROLL IS HERE!!!!!!!!
no not really {*B*}
how often does dobb check this?
I am a person of many interests. —cp
Thanks. Indeed, that is an intriguing question. :-) —cp
Or I have legal troubles. Or ... ?
Well, it's like this. I figure every edit I make here reveals *something* about me (including this one). Sometimes all I am revealing is my dislike of bad grammar, which probably doesn't distinguish me from any of the other faculty at UCD. Other times I am revealing something more significant. So, my creating that page might be revealing something insignificant, significant, or something in between. You can make whatever inferences you like, but I just don't want to give you the wrong impression. —cp
Name calling and personal attacks by anonymous cowards are totally unacceptable to me. I can't remove the comments so I will address them the best I can. And having raised a daughter, I have a pretty strong opinion that by the age of 21, a woman/man should take responsibility for what she/he says. —JimStewart
How's life going, Daubert? - SM
Eh, he said he was leaving after this last edit. Doesn't seem to be much reason to ban the account. If he vandalizes with it, it can be dealt with. -jw
It wasn't obvious to me and I wasn't being snappy. I simply reverted the page and left a request in the message line. K? -oy
- Considering what his/her username is, and the comment to the deletion (guilty), I had no reason to suspect it wasn't malice. Had it been "joeshmoe" I wouldn't have assumed it was deliberate. Don't jump down my throat. I know some editors on here are super aggressive in the beginning with new people but I don't believe I have that kind of a history so don't take it out on me. You could have simply let me know "Hey just FYI she didn't mean to delete the page." I don't need a frakking lecture on being kind to new users.—oy
I don't quite understand how the Enterprise article got behind a paywall; I pasted the URL which I got from a Google search. Also I think a protest campaign barely above a whisper about the Enterprise changing what it said could be effective. —BruceHansen
If that is the only level of interaction that is useful here, then I will leave. —CovertProfessor
Well, that's how it came off, especially in light of your current statements of my moral failings. I am glad to hear that that was not what you meant. As for Ali Baba, I haven't noticed any recent change, though it may have been a few weeks since I've had one of their burgers. —cp
True. —cp

No worries. I was by a campfire with a bunch of friends. Nowadays, that doesn't mean I can't be online in about 2 seconds, but I'm not checking the wiki constantly during that time (every once in awhile, admittedly). Life is good. So's the wiki, but I'm comfortable that there are a bunch of other people with eyes on the wiki at any given time. -jw
Hey you mentioned once that you were a prowrestling fan. There is a great indy promotion coming to Vacaville in January. http://goldenstatewrestling.com/ Just in case you were interest. Hope all is well BTW. —Dozer
Sure — we all look out for each other. —CovertProfessor
Is Ashley OK? —IDoNotExist
So it is a taxi service, and they do pick up/take people to the airport? They do use the website: http://www.davistaxiservice.com/ It looks like the description and page is accurate enough. Certainly not worth deleting off of the wiki. -ES
Not to start a debate, but factory farms do NOT feed the world. Actually they consume all the grain that could go to people. Factory farms are the problem, not the solution. -Megan
Hokay, gotcha. WELL then I might point out that we wouldn't need to be so productive per acre if all the acreage used to grow grain for CAFOs would be converted to growing food for people =) -M
Are you referring to that thing we talked about the other day? —IDoNotExist
I've been there a few times. For some reason I've had really bad luck in service there, but everybody I've gone with who had been there before said it was usually better. Thanks for the recommendation, however! -jw
Localwiki doesn't allow cross-wiki logins (or at least that was the plan from when I last talked about it with Philip). -jw
Not yet - but we will. —PhilipNeustrom
One Shields Avenue, Peter J. Shields Avenue
I got it from the person who deleted the page and said that it was out of business. I have no personal knowledge one way or the other. Seeing cab drama in the past and that it was from an anonymous account it seemed a little shady so I just restored the page and removed the departed business include. We'll see what comes out. -ChrisDietrich
send me an email at dagonjones at gmail
Cool, thanks. I'm not even sure that I did go over the line — all I know was that there was a flash. —cp
Hi Daub-daub! I hope you are well. I just wanted to check up on you. You are a crazy fuck after my own heart, and to this end you are my lovable brother to the bitter end. —ScottMeehleib
I'm proud to have you as a friend in this life experience, Dobby - SM
Has that thing that we talked about gotten better? I'm still seeing signs of it, but not quite as many... —IDoNotExist
What? — oy
Barnabas was a servant of the people. He did what was needed. Now he is needed again.
happy new year- nd why you being srs by being so mean? THE WIKI IS NOT A WEAPON lol , my bad for deleting. Happy 2012 to you. Imported Sacramento goons, that's funny
Cool site! Many years ago, when dinosaurs used floss and there was no world wide web, I used to order a series of posters out of Sky and Telescope magazine (I think; it was either that or Astronomy magazine) that listed everything in the Heavens Above, including things like spy satellites and defunct satellites in predictable orbits. I used to also have a poster from the same folks that listed everybody who had gone to space (including cosmonauts, which were often skipped in such posters). I wonder if it's related to, or if they inspired the website. Or I just misremember the title on the posters, but I think it was "Heavens Above". -jw
I added a little bit to my response to JeffWood, if that makes any difference in you agreeing :) —tg
Oh, ya think? 8-)
(Thanks for the words of support. I have been too inundated to keep up with all of these wiki edits). —cp
2011-12-14 00:31:53 I have been informed that hair dye is tricky, especially when you're doing so many colors. —WilliamLewis
Sure whatever, you can delete his page for all I care, considering the page had is name misspelled and there were no comments it makes no difference. btw, got a ride from Dan the other day and it was pretty cool. I like the blue lights inside.
Well, I responded to what I thought you said. Please feel free to clarify if you think I misunderstood. But I have to ask — how should I react when you suggest that someone who is concerned about women being pressured to identify their names on the internet is likely to be a woman? And in the same breath, makes speculations about that person's gender, with no apparent awareness of the irony? —cp
CovertDog.
Simple, it was dumb. It only makes sense if people deduce the context, and there's a chance the userpage you left it on wouldn't. Even if she did, the comment itself (as a standalone) lacks content or relevancy - it wasn't a comment for a user, merely whining (or at best, notating) a technical glitch or error on the page it happened on.
If someone was attempting to add content to any wiki page, let's say squirrels, but instead inserted: "BLAH HAD A WHOLE [PARAGRAPH] that was then lost even though I clicked [save changes] dwlfk;jas;lfkjas;lkfjas;dlkfjas;lkjf;asklvnzX?,mvnihflkj;" I sympathize with the bad luck and the frustration that clearly compels one to express it in such a way, but nonetheless it is meaningless, content-less drivel. I would delete that too. -ES
I know why they were trying to do it — but they went farther than they needed to, imo. Other pages have prices on them. And the wine tours are unusual, so should be listed on the page. Also, if you are in contact with Ruby, you might mention that she should close that account. —CovertProfessor
Right — notice that I didn't use the word "special" in my rewrite. As for my tone, I am more than happy to cede these tasks to you or anyone else who wishes to take a more positive tone. However, I am worn out from business owners who are only on the wiki to promote their business and who are very aggressive about wanting to do so. If this is one of the rare exceptions then I am pleased to hear it, and I look forward to a new user account and some positive contributions to the wiki. —CovertProfessor
Sounds good! —CovertProfessor
There are two links from the taxi page, and so there should be a link back to the taxi page. We don't have a limo page; the taxi page is the closest we have, and the services are sufficiently similar. —CovertProfessor
- On this, I think CP is right: they are listed on the taxi page, because it's the closest to "car for hire" we have. -jw
We have a Transportation page, but it's much broader. —cp
Yeah. Normally, you just have everyone who's named on the check endorse it, then any of them can cash it. They could mail it off to London and whatnot for that, but it'd be a lot easier if a bank would just accept a written statement of permission. —tg
- I was under the impression that most banks no longer accept checks that are "signed over." Too easy to fake, too hard to verify, too much hassle for the bank. —cp
Yep. —cp
I'm new to posting on Wiki and wanted to spread holiday cheer by using "Mikey" the Grande Ghost. So, how best to share my glee with Davisites? There are (at least two) kids in the neighborhood that monitor Mikey regularly. I created a blog and have shared it with their parents: mgg1.blogspot.com. Wiki was suggested by the folks at Davis Chamber. Happy Holidays! Duff Devine
Oh, I have absolutely no idea. I just listed Kevin as the owner of Sophia's because his user page indicated ownership. Feel free to add other owners that you know of. Thanks. —ScottMeehleib
My suggestion would be to move your Measure I post to the No on I page since that is one of the opposing arguments. Refutable, but probably the main page isn't the place for a long debate on water quality since it is only one of many issues. —DonShor
Yep, I thought about that... But it's the not the corner that would be thought of in the expression. "Around the corner, across the street and through the courtyard" would be more accurate. But silly. —WesHardaker
Steve-I know you know HLDAY from Brush Creek Apartments. If you can get a hold of her, her removal of comments needs to stop —PeteB
I know I've seen them elsewhere, but I just can't remember — I'm going to start paying more attention now and try to get some more shots. —cp
Well-written Vanguard piece yesterday. Where would I find a copy of the map you reference? —cp (1) City of Woodland, City of Davis. Map to accompany water right application No. 30358 points of diversion, transmission pipelines and places of use. West Yost Associates. March 2011
- Thanks. I made it visible on the page. —cp
Sure, glad to. Any other info you have on that map would be interesting... who commissioned it, who worked on it or gave input on it, was it approved... I had heard that the City Council didn't want to extend its sphere of influence beyond the existing borders of the city but this map suggests otherwise.
Thank you sir! —sm I have mild insomnia. I was just watching bad TV shows and putzing around online. —sm
Hope you don't mind that I chime in on things. I do apologize I caused issues early on when I first came here. I have such a passion for the Wiki philosophy that it drives me to contribute. Thought you'd like to read a piece I wrote on DavisWiki. —PeteB
Yeah, I saw that plume in the morning, but it didn't seem smoky until the evening, so I didn't put it together. That's as good a guess as any. —cp
Sorry to bug you but....HLDAY...you know her or have some connection with her? Can you maybe educate her on not whitewashing pages? She did it again today... Oakshade Commons Apartments. Thanks—PeteB
Oh I know it's accurate, just wasn't sure if it needed to be more Davis-focused since this is not a local campaign. Thanks for input. -M
The Mystery picture? I usually don't really follow it. I thought the top one was the new one...?
Good catch, thanks. JT
Showed up at La Kora at 3:15 the other day and they were out of everything. However, there were satisfied customers in the parking lot letting me know me that I had missed out on the best tacos ever and that they use homemade tortillas. sigh. some day I'll try those tacos. - mikeycrews

I ain't even in Davis anymore. —hankim
...although it will not break (i.e., if you do enough, the entire page scrolls right and left, which is usually considered bad). -jw
Oops, I'll fix that. I didn't realize it was a ratings list! —cp
2.5 seems fine. —cp
Wonder who would do such a thing?
NP Daubert-I like cleaning up picky stuff. —PeteB

Hi Steven, where is your User page? I don't see it. Please upload photos of 'your' Hummingbirds too, I would like to see them.
PS: don't worry. I observed the Hummingbirds again today and they were hovering plenty above the feeders. They don't always sit down when they can. And when they are hovering, it's much more difficult to capture them on photo with my very simple Canon 500 D. I don't have a tele lens etc.. ConstantiaOomen
-
No, I haven't seen them migrating? Ours are always there, I think whole year through. Which ones are migrating? And do you have photos of that?
I know, they are amazing birds and they have gotten inside my head: I dreamed one was looking for a feeder at the back of our house attached to the house. So I felt obligated to place one there too, and now they are drinking there too. They know very well how to impose their will. And this wasn't the only time I dreamed about them! ☺
Yeah I fell into the Troll Trap... -PeteB
Thanks for the support, I didn't want to make it a big deal (which it was quickly becoming) so I changed it. Had to extinguish the wiki-conflagration. -James
Not sure how you tried to tell me you spoke with her... didn't see any email or comment left on my page? In any case, you have your reasons for deleting comments off your page periodically. I have my reasons for not making phone calls. If you want to communicate that way, fine, but personally, I think it's better for everyone to see the answer and not rely on one person's account of things. —cp
I'm just saying, you have reasons for the way that you behave on the wiki, and I have reasons for the way that I behave on the wiki. I respect your ways and I would ask you to respect mine. I have said in the past that I am not going to be making phone calls. Again, if you want to operate that way, go for it. —cp
Well, as I have said several times already, I had my reasons for pushing a hard line. In truth, I am still not 100% convinced, but close enough that I am not willing to push it any further. And yeah, you talked to her, but you didn't tell the rest of us, so I am not sure how that helped. —cp
You didn't say that you spoke with her. You just said that you were "pretty sure" that what she was saying was accurate but without giving any basis for your feeling pretty sure. What am I supposed to do with that? As for the Monsanto page, it's a quote from the Enterprise, not an assertion of fact. (I actually agree with what it says, but I'm not going to get into a debate on the wiki over GMOs, having done that already and exhausted my enthusiasm for that particular endeavor). —cp
Yeah, but I changed that. It now says that it's sugared whey that has chocolate. Which is what she says it is... but in a way that implies it doesn't. Which is odd. -jw
@ Daubert
Hello!
I don't know what Wikicide is and I don't plan to find out. It's totally useless, because anybody can look up older versions. Hey, I didn't invent this thing, don't blame me for a system that already exists. I am pro real names, and always have been.
And moreover: I keep seeing PeteB being very inconsistent. He's always head first in accusing people of removing 'bad comments' etc. And what does he do now? Right! He keeps removing my comments, but expects me to keep his slander on my page (and I will, but not to please him). I sure will not ever take him serious anymore. I read this Davis Wiki a lot and I have good reason: I live in Davis. PeteB doesn't even live here, he seems to live on the East Coast. What does he do here on this local Wiki? Oh, and I am not allowed to say that? Well, I am. It's just not very logical. JW I can understand, but Pete: no. And especially the way he is treating other people. I remember this case of the woman that 'didn't show up', and Pete was cock of the walk to step in her way, because she was not pleased with this useless Wiki page about her. See here: http://daviswiki.org/Andrea_Thomas/Talk - PS: and because I know you too will remove my comment, I am going to post my comment on my own page. That would be my right, wouldn't it? ConstantiaOomen
Hey D-would appreciate an opportunity to have a private discussion with you. Please contact Jabs for my email. Thx —PeteB
Affirmative, alternatively my last name @ gmail is an address where I can be contacted at —Daubert
Were you able to find people to sublease your rooms? I thought I would ask before I deleted your post on the roommates wanted page. -Lori

2013-11-03 15:16:17 I don't think Davis' wind is consistent N: I check the Davis weather forecast everyday (since more than two years now) and most of the time it is NW, NNW or SW and SSW. It's almost never N. — Thanks for good insider tip about Elaine Busch. I will definitely check her out, her website generates trust.
2013-11-13 12:43:50 I have a 'date' with Elaine, the Plush Doctor! :-) —ConstantiaOomen
2013-11-13 21:03:31 I saw Elaine today and she is most kind. I felt really bad showing her what was left of my favorite plush, it was embarrassing and to me personally: sad, but she is willing to do the job and I am most excited about that. Next time I see her, I will say you said hello. Thanks for the great tip, it was a 15 minutes drive only and she is very professional. She even has German ancestry, and I always like that. :-) And this rooster plush comes from East Berlin before the Wall came tumbling down in 1989, so everything seems to fall in place. Thanks again! —ConstantiaOomen
2013-11-15 17:34:15 Hi Steven, I thought we been all through this and decided that the remarks on Andrea Thomas' page are really not that important ('not showing up and so fort'), to cut her some slack, because it is not important and she repeatedly said and says she doesn't like it. Can't we just respect that? "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone." But btw: I still don't see any importance in this not showing up thing, I really don't. We don't know anything about Andrea's reasons 'not to show up', and I guess she hád her reasons (maybe something in her family for instance), so I think we should let it, and her, be. —ConstantiaOomen
2013-11-20 10:19:58 Did you ever consider adopting another rabbit? :-) Great real life story about "Mr. Lucky", love it! When I was a toddler, we had lots of rabbits too in our backyard (they multiplied so fast my parents released them to the forest), and much later, my brother had a big rabbit like yours. Here is a photo of me with that big one, named "Spikkel" (meaning "Speckle"). Maybe you can see in the photo that Spikkel was wearing a red farmer handkerchief for the occasion, he didn't seem to mind. Constantia with "Spikkel" —ConstantiaOomen
2013-11-20 14:14:39 Hi Steven. That's the right thing to do; keep the animals as natural as possible (so: no cage). Yes, I know, some animals need protection like chickens and peacocks against foxes etc.. In the past, I kept a lot of birds (chickens and tropical birds) and always let the tropical birds fly free in my/our (time Jeroen joined me) house. I have decided that the really right thing to do, is to not keep animals or birds at all, so I won't anymore. There are many facets to it, besides of doing the natural thing, there is this, not so small, thing of parting with animals (when they die of old age or sickness), which to me is a crime, I can't deal with that, and never learned how to. So now, we allure birds and squirrels in the back and front yard. When we offer them seeds and (sugar > Hummingbirds) water, I realize that this too may not be the all natural thing to do. But under the influence of men, the earth has changed so much; in most cases we have decreased the natural environment of the animals and birds. So maybe it's justified to help them.
I thought about what you said about removing the ring of the Humming bird feeders, I thought you were being a little sadistic back then. Now I realize, your idea is quite natural. Most flowers don't have landing gear (or do they? :-). I tend to spoil the animals by being too generous to them. It is a mistake that to me is very hard to correct, I simply love them so much, I treat them like kings and queens, I would even bow to them. ;-)
Anyway, this photo of you with Mr. Lucky is very cool and sweet, I guess you treasure it.
2013-11-21 20:18:53 Why even create a new page? Just create a little section on the current page about the whole fiasco. :) —hankim
2013-11-22 10:37:36 I'm amused that you've expressed a viewpoint in Fall 2013 on the possible boycott @ DFC, which was a hot issue in the spring of 2010. Thanks for chiming in, and I feel good that this is a well-considered view ;) —DougWalter
- It was still a short list, and not a huge sales volume (although the feta...)
2013-12-17 18:22:28 Don't forget to add those to Wiki Community/Organizational accounts/To Do. I have a repeating monthly task to clear 'em out. —JabberWokky
2013-12-18 11:58:01 The paradox is that in Davis MORE people use the Wiki than use Yelp. I see this every day in the website data for my business. And yet, people aren't contributing content to the Wiki to match the usage. Eventually this will catch up with the Wiki. One of my customers commented that she noticed how old the business comments are.
As I mentioned, I was part of the Experimental College, and I had to watch it die because it didn't change (and was terribly managed). In the very last days of the EC, some of the "stakeholders" in the EC, including myself, formed a board to advise the organization. We didn't know this at the time, but it was already too late. However, in the few short weeks of its existence, the board made huge progress. If that board had been around two years earlier, the EC would still be alive. So I ask, does the Davis Wiki have a board?
2013-12-23 20:25:02 Thanks. I really wanted to stay away from snow, which is so common as a "Christmas theme", but isn't exactly Davis-relevant. —JabberWokky
2014-01-04 12:49:21 Hey, Steven, best wishes for 2014. What's the difference between your initials with link to your Wiki page and your full name and link to your Wiki page? :-) —ConstantiaOomen
2014-01-04 13:20:41 Ah! Very subtle, this difference between "SD" and "Steven Daubert", I wouldn't have thought of it! ~~~~ —ConstantiaOomen
