Description: Aimed toward people with no guitar experience. We will explore a few basic chords, fingering positions, and rhythmical styles that could be used for songwriting. Vocal improvisation may also be explored. Small group format, limited to 5 students.

"Introductory Meditation" with Ray

Location: Pine Grove in Arboretum (Lobby in Olson if raining)
Description: The focus will be to devote positive time and space so students will be able to discover how best to use their own energy. Initial focus will be on breathing and posture, followed by energy visualization and channeling.

"Introduction to Massage" with Kurt

Description: Learn how to share your own healing touch. There will be a series of independent workshops, each one open to everyone but the last workshop comprehensive and only open to people who have attended the previous sessions. Workshop topic included with date.

"Hand-sewing Clothes Alteration" with Aria

Location: Pierce Living Room, Tri-co-ops (TB-14 Regan Hall Circle)
Description: We will offer various useful types of hand-stitches for mending or altering garments. It is for total sewing beginners to anyone who wants to learn! We will go over 5 types of stitches, including types of hemming, how to darn holes, and what the strongest hand-stitch is. Students can bring clothes with them that have problems and I can, to the best of my ability, teach them how to fix it!

Description: Join us for a talk about the history and practice of Wicca and tarot.

Description: Learn basic cooking techniques for different cuisines, such as Middle Eastern, Mexican, Indian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, and homestyle. Attendants should bring their own ingredients or money for ingredients.

"Anarchist Knitting" with Megan

Description: The first two sessions will focus on the knitting basics (essential for beginning knitters, but experienced knitters will learn plenty of new things too). Later sessions will be more project-oriented, geared toward folks who already know how to knit and purl.

Description: If you always wondered if yoga was right for you but didn't feel you had the ability, were too embarrassed or couldn't afford the classes, this one is for you. This is a yoga class where we together design personal yoga routines individualized to each person's ability range and and which are an effective point to begin.

"Community Change Strategies to Meet the Future" with Greg (10-12 attendants)

Description: In this class we will explore probable future scenarios, evaluate how well current efforts are moving to accommodate this change, and then develop realistic strategies to move this process in the most effective directions. The class will be facilitated so that each person will have an opportunity to contribute.

"Affordable Solar, Conservation and Food Production For the Davis Home" with Greg (6-8 attendants)

Description: In this hands on class we will survey affordable ideas for making a low carbon footprint homestead in Davis. Topic will include Solar air and water heat as well as electricity, rain water and grey water recycling, edible landscaping, and conservation measures such as retrofit windows, pex plumbing, etc. These ideas will be demonstrated and students will have the opportunity to participate in building some of them.

Description: Bio-intensive composting, worm composting, sheet-composting, trench composting, and chickens will be covered, with additional methods to consider.

"Spanish Conversation Night" with Sonia & Megan

Description: ¡Bienvenidos estudiantes de español! This weekly 2-hour workshop is for anyone who has a desire to practice their conversational Spanish, no matter what level you're at. Even if you don't know Spanish, you're welcome to sit in and listen - just keep English to a minimum, please. Feel free to drop in at any time and any week, as this workshop is not a series. ¡Nos vemos pronto!

Description: A hands-on workshop teaching the different parts of the bicycle. The first workshop will be an overall beginning class and will be followed by classes on more specific parts of the bicycle.

"Body of Knowledge" with Karl Frost

Description: This workshop will introduce material from Body Research's upcoming performance works, Body of Knowledge and Axolotl, both being investigations of our sense of selves in relationship to others in the world. Material from the workshops will include connecting body awareness to emotional states and tracking subtle details of body use and reaction and seeing how these subtle, unconscious actions create who we are in the world.

"Women Trans Friends (WTF) Bike Repair" with Sarah

Description: WTF is a gender-positive space where you can share your experiences in the bicycling world and learn how to fix your bike. Every week, we begin by explaining how to repair a different part of the bike. Then, you can either work on your own bike project, or practice applying what you just learned on one of our donated bikes.
