The Davis Pre-Law Society (DPLS) is a student club that seeks to support any student who is interested in going to law school. The club's core values are inclusion, self-development, and community. If you are an undergraduate at UC Davis and are interested in going to law school, check out DPLS!
First and foremost, DPLS aims to provide and create resources to help their members fulfill their pre-law goals. More importantly, it is an opportunity to meet other like-minded students and make new friends in a new environment.
DPLS was created in the winter of 2019 by six ambitious and motivated students. Since then it has grown into a solid community; with their first official recruitment adding over 50 new members to their original group, which already had dozens of members. As a club, DPLS hosts bi-weekly general meetings which seek to help prepare members for the law school application process, taking the LSAT, building professional and personal connections, and more. In addition to general meetings, they also host professional development events, which bring in speakers from different stages of their legal career and of the legal field. Professional development workshops also strive to help members improve and prepare for their future law school applications. DPLS also hosts social events, which are a casual way for members to get to know one another and make new friends! Lastly, DPLS plans to host a yearly pre-law conference (starting in 2021), which will bring in several speakers to speak on their legal careers and give advice to all who attend. This is aimed for all pre-law students, not just for club members. It is also an excellent way for pre-law students to learn about the legal field, law school, and to build professional connections!
