<div> Two species of deer are native to Yolo County: the mule deer (Odocoileus hemionus) and the red deer (Cervus elaphus). The red deer is sometimes called an elk. </div> <div>  </div> <div> Neither species is typically found within the Davis city limits. Per the California Department of Fish and Game range maps, mule deer are found both in the Yolo County foothills and along the Sacramento River, while red deer or elk are found in the Capay Hills between Rumsey and Esparto and westward of the Capay Hills.</div>
