Floyd Shimomura serves as Executive Officer of the California State Personnel Board is one of the highest ranking Asian Pacific Americans in California state government. Prior to his appointment in 2004, he served as Chief Counsel to the California Department of Finance where he helped prepare the State of Californias $94.4 billion annual budget. He previously served as Chief Counsel of the California State Personnel Board and as the Senior Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Government Section. Mr. Shimomura also taught contracts and administrative law at the U.C. Davis, School of Law. During the 1980s, he served as National President of the 27,000 member Japanese American Citizens League where he helped lead the fight for redress for Japanese Americans interned during World War II.
He is currently Vice-President of the Cal Aggie Alumni Association.
