Despite the variety of European influences in town when one refers to Football you'll be understood to be talking about American Football, a popular sport in the US. The closest local professional teams are the Oakland Raiders and the San Francisco 49ers.
There was once a Davis football team called the Davis Swastikas which disbanded long before World War 2. The team was active in the early 20th century; back then, the swastika was simply seen as a lucky symbol without any of the modern connotations of Nazism and racism.
