What do you know about Holmes 50th Anniversary?

The year of 2016-2017 is the 50th Anniversary of Davis’ Holmes Junior High School! Holmes was founded in 1966, and has been one of Davis’ Junior High schools, teaching thousands of children and contributing to our community. Its mascot is the Patriot. The namesake of the school is Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr., a well-known American poet and author.

To celebrate, Holmes is holding our 50th Anniversary Open House on April 27th, 2017. We are also collecting artifacts to be placed in a time capsule that will be buried in the grounds of Holmes. If you have any items that you feel could be put in it, bring them to the front office of Holmes. We are also creating a Display Case in the library. The theme of this is “50 years of faces”. Feel free to bring anything that you feel will represent this subject, prior to the event. The deadline for these items is April 21st.

The Open House Celebration begins at 6:00pm, and ends at 8pm. It will be at Holmes. The address is 1220 Drexel Drive, Davis CA. All families are welcome! We would especially like to invite any Holmes alumni from years past or former Holmes students currently attending district schools. Wear any Holmes memorabilia that you own and come ready to have a good time! There will be food vendors, music performances, and activities around campus, so bring your family and get food and sit in the grass to watch students perform. We hope to see you soon!
