Richard Whitmore was interim superintendent of the Davis Joint Unified School District from 2006 to 2007. Prior to this post, he served as Chief Policy Advisor to California State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Delaine Eastin, and was also her Deputy Superintendent for the California Department of Education. Since leaving his Davis post, Whitmore has served as Superintendent of the Los Gatos Union School District and as the Chief Administrative Officer of WestEd. He has also served as a member of the governing board of the Acalanes Union School District in Lafayette, California.
