2005-04-04 20:10:01 I'm not much of a fish and chips conniseur, but I found it damn tasty. Be sure to try malt vinegar, especially if you don't like the "fishy" taste. Tartar sauce is also good and they have a number of other sauces available. —ArlenAbraham
2005-04-04 21:10:00 I really like this place. Its offerings are pleasantly incongruous to my perceptions of Downtown, and I've have always found the women who work there to be very friendly. I've enjoyed many of their seafood offerings, but I keep returning to the plain old fish and chips. Except for novelty purposes, I wouldn't recommend the deep fried twinkies. The batter was too thick, the Twinkie "cake" wasn't caramelized, and the filling was piping hot. That said, I'm not a Twinkie fan in the first place. —CraigBrozinsky
2005-04-04 22:30:03 Deep fried snickers bars are *quite* excellent. Much better than the twinkies. I had to sample each to find out, and while it shaved a few years off my lifespan, IT WAS WORTH IT. —PaulLanzi

2005-04-23 16:57:36 Last week my friend ordered a deep fried snickers but they were out of them for the day (something about melting chocolate) so they gave us two deep fried twinkees for FREE. Moral of the story: this place still does serve deep-fried twinkies and snickers, though they aren't listed on the menu, and the new owners are awesome. —StephanieHammon
2005-04-28 00:58:28 I had the ribs tonight. Yuk. They're greasy, lacking in any interesting flavor, and are really difficult to separate. It seemed more like pulled pork with bones in it. I respect them for trying out the new item, but you're best off sticking to the seafood, especially the shrimp and scallops. Both are very yummy and go well with tartar sauce. —CraigBrozinsky
2005-05-18 17:16:23 The main lady who runs this place is really really really nice. If you've eaten there at least once or twice and she remembers you, she'll give you a bonus. She's really kind to all the college kids who are kind/polite in turn. Even when the only customers (in the entire place) were my gf and I, she "accidentally" made extra fish, shrimp, clams, fries, etc. Sometimes "the fish were kinda small so I make extra" or "I know you like the shrimp, enjoy!" This has happened to me numerous times, and it's not the reason I recommend this place - I love fish and chips. If she does give you extra, you end up getting way more food then can eat. A lot of people tend to save it for the needy, which is pretty cool. —ES
2005-06-02 18:09:22 Owners are extremely nice. They'll sometimes give you free drinks or a bigger portion of food. Personally I'm a big fan of the fried zucchini and mushrooms. The fish, shrimp and chips are good as well. I also tried out their new menu items: chicken kabob and fried calimari(if that's how you spell it) rings and they were super awesome. 2005-06-03 15:21:15 Great service. The owners gave me a free drink and some extra prawns. They also let me sample some of their new items they are planning to put out such as Cashew shrimp with a sweet sauce and Spicy Jalepeño Calimari. These samplers were sooooo good. This was my first visit to London fish 'n chips and it defintly won't be my last. —DougMiller

2005-08-17 14:52:45 The last time I went there, I asked for fried snickers and the owner wouldn't do it. He said the chocolate got all over the fryer before. So it looks like he won't be doing fried snickers for awhile. —SimonFung
2005-09-15 01:47:13 Most of the comments here are related to the Winnie era of London Fish & Chips. Winnie, the kindly lady who often cooked plenty extra for regular customers, sold the business to Mr. and Mrs. Lee. They are restauranteurs of great caliber and you will almost always find Mr. Lee manning the fry vats now. Yes, the pitchers are still $6. Mr. Lee has added some traditional Chinese favorites to the menu, including Spicy Baked Prawns, which he deep frys and then sautees with various seasonings and Jalapeno peppers. This is also available in Calamari. For the gentleman who commented on the ribs, this was a short lived phenomenon, and is no longer available due to lack of interest. The Lee family is very friendly, and very accomodating. If you come by on a friday night, ask for Chris, I'll probably be out front drinking pitchers. :-) —ChrisLambertus
