History:

Memorial Union Renewal Project

Jerry Nunes, former head manager. He was also a UCD Bowling Team coach.

The MU underwent a massive renovation, which began in Spring 2015 and was completed Spring 2017. The Games Area was closed during the renovations and received a long awaited upgrade to the old services provided.  MUGA got updated bowling lanes, billiards tables, and TV console gaming. Gunrock Gaming also relocated to be inside the Games Area with the Gunrock Gaming PC Lounge.

You can find information about the project at the Campus Recreation and Unions Website or their Facebook Page.

The Games Area was first built in 1966 as a lower level addition to the Memorial Union. The Games Area included the first and only bowling alley built in the city of Davis. Throughout the years the old Games Area housed over 50 Arcade games, a bowling alley and ten billiards tables. The Games Area used to host 'Rock 'N' Bowl' on Thurs.-Sat evenings during the early 2000's. The arcade included Pinball machines, and Play for a Prize Claw Games, To see a full list of all the games that were previously offered at the Games Area, please see document, Old games.docx .

2010-02-27 01:27:10   It's such a crock about the ADA, the bookstore chooses to not open the lower doors (next to pump it up and fast and furious motorcyle) when they do the textbook buyback. Wheelchairs can use that lower door after taking the elevator. They stopped using that lower door to make people go in and out of bookstore thru the upper entrances —StevenDaubert
