Relief Efforts for the Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster are building in Davis to help our fellow people in Japan who are suffering the tragic shock and after effects of the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

Where to Donate

The Davis Food Co-op has collected $5,280 to send to Cooperative Development Foundation for relief and recovery through Japan's co-ops. We have stopped taking donations at the registers as of 4/1, but you can follow the link above if you would still like to contribute. Some details are available on the DFC website, with 100% of monies collected going towards the recovery process.

The SPCA Thrift Store is accepting donations.

Nugget has a matching funds campaign. (anybody know more details?).

ACE Hardware is accepting donations until March 31 for the American Red Cross Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami relief at all cash registers.

Two Benefit Piano Concerts - Thursday March 31 and Friday April 1

Marina Horak, internationally known pianist performs at noon Thursday in UCD Music Building 115. Admission is free. The second concert is from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Davis, 27074 Patwin Road, West Davis. Tickets are $12 and $8. 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday March 27, 2011: Yoga Classes at Davis Holistic Health Center

"Two free yoga classes will be offered Sunday as a fundraiser to benefit relief efforts in Japan.

The Davis Holistic Health Center and The ACI-Davis Buddhist Group are sponsoring a morning class in Bhakti Flow from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and an afternoon class in Tibetan Heart Yoga from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Davis Holistic Health Center, 1403 Fifth St.

All donations will go to the Red Cross Japan Relief Fund. All levels are welcome to participate. Those who can't come but would like to contribute may leave a donation with Terry at the DHHC front desk.

Wednesday, March 23, 2011: Japanese Relief Effort: Potluck Dinner Fundraiser

Time: 6:00 PM (US/Pacific) Location: 10 College Park In an expression of solidarity and compassion, please join International House Davis for a Japanese Relief Potluck Dinner fundraiser on Wednesday, March 23rd from 6-8 pm.

Please bring a dish to share (Japanese-inspired dishes are especially encouraged) and checks in any amount made out to "International Red Cross" to this pot-luck dinner. All donations will benefit the victims of the earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan.

Come hungry and with open hearts to this community event where we will gather, reflect, and enjoy one another's company while sharing thoughts, prayers, and hopes for our friends in Japan.
