Scouting for Food is an annual food drive carried out in March in Davis to fill the food pantry of STEAC. One week prior to the pickup date, flyers are distributed to every home (at least that is the goal) in Davis by the various scouting groups. On the day of the collection, each scouting group returns to their flyer distribution area to collect food that was placed curbside, and transports the food to STEAC. The support of the community in this effort is critical to STEAC's mission.
On the day of collection, donations should be placed by the curb no later than 9:00 AM. Please place your donation in the provided bag, or in a box and attach the flyer. Scouts will collect the donations from 9:00 AM until noon. If your donation was not picked up by noon, please call the number on the flyer to have a team come pick up your donation.
The 2015 Scouting for Food pickup was Saturday, March 7th. Scouts delivered more than 11,000 pounds of food to STEAC.
The 2016 Scouting for Food pickup is Saturday, March 5. Even though it will probably be raining, the pickup will still take place.
