This is a regular basketball pickup game held on Sunday mornings beginning at approximately 8:00 a.m. The game is held (as of Oct 2010) at Mace Ranch Park . Parking is available at Korematsu Elementary School down the street.
The usual crowd consists of local guys mostly in their 30's and 40's, but everyone is welcome. As for the level of play, it's low-medium. A couple of the better players claim to have been benchwarmers on their high school teams but most of the rest of us have our doubts about that. If you are a jogger, swimmer, biker, etc., it's a great change of pace from your regular workout.
The core group plays year-round, including 3-on-3 or 2-on-2 half-court games throughout the winter when regular attendance dwindles. Nice weather days typically get 8 - 12 participants for a couple hours of full-court. Recently attendance has even dwindled during nicer weather and so it would be great if we could get some more players.
History
The group used to meet at the outdoor courts on the UC Davis campus directly across the street from Rec Hall/Pavilion/ARC. Alas, the La Rue courts on campus were demolished in May 2008 to make way for a new UCD wellness center.
