The Park
The park sits on the south side of the property with two separate driveways for access points. Inside of the park there are benches and picnic tables that allow for people to sit and enjoy the scenery. In 2021 the city of Troy added a bike path that they call Troy Trails. It runs throughout the city and bikers can enjoy a 0.75 mile stretch that runs through Sylvan Glen. https://www.michigan.org/property/sylvan-glen
Sylvan Lake
In the center of the park sits a small lake that does not allow for swimming or kayaking. The lake does allow for fishing as long as the person participates in catch and release. An abundance of wildlife call this lake home and visitors can often see swans and geese throughout the warmer months. https://www.yelp.com/biz/sylvan-glen-lake-park-troy
Camp Ticonderoga
Just off the east side of the golf course sits Camp Ticonderoga, a restaurant that opened up in 1996. The restaurant is open to both the public and golfers on the course. For golfers they can stop in after 9 holes and eat off an abbreviated menu while getting drinks. The inside features an outdoors feel, built to model early log cabins. On the walls hang taxidermied animals that have been found in the Michigan wilderness. https://campticonderoga.com/
Ticonderoga is an Iroquois word with the meaning of “Land between two lakes”. The restaurant is named Camp Ticonderoga because it sits between two lakes. These two lakes happen to be the road names north and south of it. Square Lake Rd to the north and Long Lake Rd to the south.
Sledding and Winter Events
In the winter Sylvan Glen park is a popular place for kids and families to go sledding and cross country skiing. A steep slope on one of the holes on the golf course has been the destination for sledders. They take the top of the slope at the tee boxes down to the middle of the course.
