UC Davis Archery (formerly "Aggie Archery") is a club which offers opportunities to practice on Saturday, Sunday, and one weekday (which varies by school term). Guests and new members are welcome regardless of whether they have any experience or equipment of their own. (Please see Guests and New Members below.) Most of our members had negligible or zero experience before joining the club.

UC Davis Archery strives to foster a healthy internal community and to connect positively with other communities (archery teams from other schools as well as other community groups that engage in archery, such as Yolo Bowmen).

The club includes a competitive team for which all club members are eligible to try out. The team travels to competitions throughout the country. (See Team below.)

For non-students of UC Davis

Although UC Davis Archery cannot offer club membership to individuals who are not students at UC Davis, the club offers group lessons for those who would like an archery experience with instruction. If you would like to book an experience for a group of your own, please contact UC Davis Archery. Participants pay a fee, which the club uses toward equipment and competition expenses.

Guests and New Members (students of UC Davis)

Newcomer instruction is offered once per week (on Sundays at the time of this writing), and UC Davis Archery requires that an individual's first attendance take place on such a day. You do not need prior experience or your own equipment.

Those who do not wish to join the club may pay a guest fee ($10 at the time of this edit) for the day. This fee covers your equipment rental. There are no additional fees. If before leaving at the end of the experience, you decide you would like to upgrade to a club membership, your membership fee is discounted by the amount of the guest fee that you have already paid. (See Fees.)

Whether you are a guest or a long-standing member, we require you to complete a sign-up form for each "club shoot" that you wish to attend. The link for these sign-up forms is typically made available on Wednesday evening. One place to find them in on the UC Davis Archery Club facebook page. The facebook page is a "Closed Group," so please click the link to request access to the group well in advance. If you do not use facebook, you can still gain access to the sign-up form; please contact us by email.

Members are welcome to participate in club shoots, open practice, and team practice (regardless of whether they are on the team). At the time of this writing, club shoots take place on Sundays, open practice takes place on Tuesdays, and team practice takes place on Saturdays.

Team

The UC Davis Archery club includes a team, which participates in competitions across the country. The primary competitions in which we participate are State Indoor, National Indoor, Regional Outdoor, and National Outdoor. Plans are in motion to increase the number of competitions available to team members during the year.

The requirements for team membership have varied in the recent history of the club's current incarnation, but a good attitude and diligent participation may earn you a spot even if scoring is a struggle.

Instruction

UC Davis Archery members include certified USA Archery instructors. In recent years, we have provided a yearly class in the summertime to give you the opportunity to become a certified instructor yourself.

We are additionally served by several archery coaches who volunteer their time and efforts to give us the benefit of their knowledge and experience. We are grateful for their ongoing service.

Fees

Fees may be paid by cash, Paypal, or cheque. (Contact UC Davis Archery if you have questions.)

A guest fee can be paid by those who do not wish to join the club. This fee allows the guest to participate in a "club shoot" (which takes place each Sunday of the academic year, as of the time of this edit). The guest fee is $10 at the time of this edit.

Membership fees can be paid for per-quarter memberships or per-year memberships: $35 and $90 as of the time of this writing.

Fees are used to fund club expenses, which include equipment purchases, maintenance, and competition-related costs.
