Welcome to the Wiki! The file upload doesn't handle .docs particularly well. Unlike photos, you can't embed the document onto the page. You'd probably be better off either copying stuff over into a wiki page or else taking a photo/scanning the document, or otherwise getting an image of it, to put directly on the page. Feel free to ask if you need help—there are a lot of helpful people around. —TomGarberson
