Dj Bigg Al Jonson
"DJ Bigg Al Jonson" was a KDVS Dj with a radio show which used to air on Thursdays from 12:00 AM -02:00 AM. The show was called The Get Down: Hip Hop and R&B show and played a variety of Reggae, Hip-hop, R&B, and Soul. He was the Vice President in the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity as well as an employee of Campus Unions in the Memorial Union. He was also the Vice President of the African American Greek Letter Council and volunteered his time at the African Americans and Africans Cultivating Education in the Student Recruitment and Retention Center. Al also volunteered at the Urban League out in Del Paso Heights and was the Student Leadership Coordinator for ACE.
Al was an ASUCD senator who won his seat in the Winter 2007 election, running as an independent. He previously unsuccessfully ran for senate in the Fall 2006 ASUCD Election on the LEAD slate. He created the RESPECT slate, which stands for Responsibility, Education, Sportsmanship, Pride, Equality, Cooperation, and Teamwork.
Al graduated from the UC Davis with a B.A. in Political Science, Sociology and African and African American Studies. At the request of Steven D. Lee, Al applied to the City's Social Services Commission. He would have been appointed by the City Council had he still been in Davis at the time of the selection process.

2006-08-28 17:45:24 Al has a great show on KDVS. He always sounds excited to be on the air and it sounds very professional. Being involved in a community that I love like KDVS certainly increases the liklihood of getting my endorsement. Plus, I've seen Al talk very well at city hall.
