Musical Charis (not Musical Chairs) is a well-liked local band that has played local events such as Chalk It Up!, the Davis Music Festival, KDVS's Operation Restore Maximum Freedom, the Sacramento Music Festival, and the SAMMIES, and local venues such as Cesar Chavez Plaza, the Crocker Art Museum, Fox & Goose, Harlow's, Kupros Craft House, Luna's Cafe, Marilyn's on K, Old Ironsides, The Press Club,Raley Field, The Refuge, The Shady Lady Saloon, Ten22, the Torch Club, and the Townhouse Lounge. They have played on the Sacramento Beer Train and performed at fundraisers for charities like St. Baldrick's Foundation and the ALS Association of Greater Sacramento. They have been played on local radio stations such as Sacramento's KRXQ 98 Rock and Davis's KDVS 90.3 FM. The band has also toured nationally multiple times and played large out-of-state music happenings like SXSW. Accolades include an induction into the Sacramento Area Music Awards' Hall of Fame in the category of Best Indie Artist. The band runs a music school in Sacramento at Beatnik Studios for low-income families, offering lessons in piano, guitar, drums, voice, and other areas of the performing arts. The music school has been featured on Fox 40 News and Good Day Sacramento.
