Pay n' Save was the original drug store tenant in the University Mall, after Lawrence's Department Store departed. Pay n' Save was a major drugstore chain based in Seattle, Washington. In 1986, The company was was sold to the Thrifty Corporation, who later sold the stores to PayLess Drug, who retired the Pay 'n Save name. Rite Aid then bought Thrifty Payless Holdings, Inc. in 1998. The Davis Pay n' Save location became a Payless, then a Rite Aid. Rite Aid moved across the street when the Mall was remodeled In 1999. In 2000, the space became a Gottschalks, and is now currently a Forever 21.
