Platos Theory

Americana/Alternative Band formed in Denton Texas by 3 classically trained musician sisters who's mission is to re-educate, refocus and re-energize people about the (to use an overused description of blowing your mind)  "out of the box" way they are bringing alternative music to their town and the world.  As of this writing they have most recently won a nomination for the 2018 Denton Music & Arts Awards after being a band for a little over a year.

MEMEBERS:

  • Maegan McKey - Cello Player  >>  Maegan has studied Classical Piano and Cello for a combination of 16 years and is currently studying Cello Performance at The University of North Texas here in Denton.  She was formally a principal Cellist with the Fort Worth Youth Orchestra and was chosen, through an audition process to play with Rascall Flatts and Christiana Aguilera at the 2015 Country Music Awards as a freshman at UNT.  She is the backbone of music choreography for the group and is  driving force behind the motivation for her sisters and running the band "business and negotiations"
  • Rose McKey - Violin >> Rose has studied Classical Piano and Violin for a combination of 12 years and is currently a Senior in High School (Home Schooled).  She has won several prestigious Concerto Solo Competitions including Cash awards and the right to play for large audiences at the World Acclaimed BASS HALL, not to mention was the principal violin player with the Ft Worth Youth Orchestra during their European Tour to Prague in 2017.  She is a natural musician in that every performance by Platos Theory the audience will hear a new rendition of the song in that Rose improvises differently each time.  She is adaptable and fluid as a musician and frequently hits all the audios the 1st go round in each recording session.
  • Mia McKey - Ukelele & Lead Vocals >> Mia has studied Classical Piano and Violin for a combination of 10 years and is currently a Freshman in High School (Home Schooled).  Mia grew up with music in the house even before she could play it so it is of no surprise that she has been writing music since the age of 12 and even stated to play the piano by ear at 4 years old.  She is self taught ukulele play and has also held the position of principal violinist in the Fort Worth Youth Orchestra Program.  She easily has over 3 hours of music and lyrics locked in her head ready to perform at any time and is flexible, versatile and a fluid musician, for such a young age, working with her sisters and in recording sessions.  She is currently the youngest member to be inducted into the Nominations for the Denton Arts and Music Awards in 2018.
