Chandler Park Family Aquatic Center
Detroit's only waterpark. Owned and operated by Wayne County
In mid July, 2011, County Commissioners were given a plan to close the park, which would save $1m. It was unclear if this closure could be achieved because of wording in a parks support millage that was renewed in 2010.
Local redevelopment plans
The park area is key to local redevelopment plans created by the Chandler Park Promise Coalition. The Coalition plans to build a charter school in the neighborhood. The group is funded by the Local Initiatives Support Corp and the Kellogg Foundation and lead by the Warren/Conner Development Coalition.
Salvation Army Krock Center
Previously, the Salvation Army intended to build a 100,000-square foot center in the area, but plans fell through due to lack of a major donor.
