A project to build expand an intermodal freight area in Southwest Detroit. The facility would switch freight (mostly shipping containers) between trucks and trains. The plan calls for consolidating CSX, NS, and CP railroads in Southwest Detroit at the Livernois-Junction Yard. Terry Stepanski of MDOT is the project manager.

The State claims the project will generate approximately 4,500 permanent jobs statewide, with about 2,360 new jobs in the Detroit area by 2030.

The projet will add 169 acres of land to an existing freight terminal. The land addition is expected to relocate 28 houses, four apartment units, and 29 businesses.

MDOT predicts the project will add 16,000 trucks daily. Southwest Detroit already has the state's highest levels of particulate matter.
