J.C. Beal Construction LLC. was founded as the E.E. Kurtz Construction Company in 1962, becoming JC Beal Construction Inc. in 1979, and JC Beal Construction LLC in 2020 .

With offices in Ypsilanti and Detroit, Michigan, the company primarily operates throughout Michigan and Northern Ohio. It has, nonetheless, completed projects in other parts of the nation. The firm provides a broad range of Insurance Restoration, General Contracting; Construction Management; and Design Build services with a focus on downtown renovation, historic restoration and preservation, adaptive reuse, and related tenant build-out projects. JC Beal Construction LLC. also supports its clients in preconstruction with site and building inspections project budgeting, and feasibility analysis.[1]

Some of J.C. Beal's major clients include Olympia Development of Michigan LLC, the University of Michigan, MOTOWN CONSTRUCTION PARTNERS, the Detroit Windsor Tunnel Corporation and Kingsley Condominiums LLC. Private work has transitioned over the last few years to focus on General Remodeling and Tenant Buildout for Commercial and Mixed-Use Projects, and Insurance Restoration across all project types .[2] 

Recent significant projects include the Broderick Tower Re-development and the Detroit Windsor Tunnel Customs Office and Plaza Renovation in Detroit, Google Adwords and the University of Michigan West Hall Renovations in Ann Arbor, and the just completed Kingsley Condominiums Project in Ann Arbor Michigan.[3] J.C. Beal takes on projects ranging in size up to to $10,000,000.[4]

History

In 1962, Eugene Kurtz founded the Ann Arbor based E.E. Construction Company.  James C. Beal (Jim), one of Kurtz’s original employees, contributed to the company’s early success and positioned himself to become company owner upon its founder’s retirement in 1978. Jim Beal renamed the company J.C. Beal Construction Inc. in 1979.[5]

JC Beal Construction Inc. continued expanding as Jim Beal’s two sons joined the company.  Fred J. Beal, the company’s current President, began his career as a carpenter for J.C. Beal in 1980, and George Beal, Vice President and Operations Manager joined the firm in 1988. With George Beal's retirement, the company split its Real Estate activities and construction work into two separate businesses with all construction activities now undertaken by the "new" firm JC Beal Construction LLC.

J.C. Beal Construction LLC. has two office locations. Recently relocating its administrative office to Ypsilanti Michigan, the firm has a second office in Detroit, Michigan

With offices in Ypsilanti and Detroit, Michigan, the company primarily operates throughout Michigan and Northern Ohio. The firm has also completed projects in Atlanta, GA.[9]
