Joe Von Battle owned Joe’s Record Shop at 3530 Hastings Street. He opened his shop and recording studio in the late ‘40’s and it became legendary in its time. The building was destroyed to build the Chrysler Freeway. The business relocated to 12th Street, where it remained until it was destroyed in the ‘67 Riots.
