Kim James is a lawyer who worked in various capacities as an employee for the City of Detroit for eight years, as well as two years as an appointee of Mayor Dave Bing, heading up the City's blight enforcement and demolition programs.   She was dismissed from her appointment and laid off from civil service in October 2011 after city demolition contractor Michael Farrow of the Farrow Group threatened to expose to the media a personal relationship he claimed to have with her.   She has since sued Michael Farrow for defamation and tortious interference and has returned to work for the City of Detroit Law Department.
