1555 Broadway. Bought by Dan Gilbert in January 2011.
The theater opened in 1917 and had 1,800 seats. The theater portion of the building has been torn down and converted into a parking lot.
The administrative areas remain and are being leased. In May 2011, Skidmore Studio planned to move into 10,000 square feet of the space. Detroit Venture Partners will occupy a floor. The building will have free coworking space and a 150-seat theater for presentations and events. The project is expected to be completed by fall 2011.
