1902 May 16.—German Squadron, consisting of eight battleships, under the command of Prince Henry of Prussia, arrived in Dublin Bay, and anchored off the East Pier, Kingstown, till the 22nd.
1903

Opening of The Pavilion, Kingstown

July 21.—Their Majesties King Edward VII. and Queen Alexandra arrived at Kingstown, and drove to the Vice-Regal Lodge amid great enthusiasm. In the evening their Majesties visited T.R.H. the Duke and Duchess of Connaught at the Royal Hospital. Dublin illuminated.  They departed from Ireland via Queenstown on August 1st

New Methodist Church, Northumberland Ave

Aug 26th Thomas Brown is knighted as Sir Thomas Brown.  He was a tobacconist as the junction of Lower Georges St and Sussex Street

Sept 7th - death of Sir Thomas Brown - he had fallen ill on the previous day while collecting funds for the Dominican Convent at St Michael's Church

1904

April 26.—Their Majesties King Edward VII. and Queen Alexandra arrived at Kingstown. Having received addresses from the principal Public Bodies in Ireland, they proceeded by rail to Naas, and attended tbe Punchestown races.
April 28.—Their Majesties drove to Leinster Lawn, where the King laid the foundation stone of the new College of Science.
April 30 to May 3.—Their Majesties visited Kilkenny on April 30th and May 1st; Waterford and Lismore on May 2nd. On May 3rd they travelled from Lismore to Kingstown, where they embarked for Holyhead.

June 16th Bloomsday - the day depicted in Joyce's fictional epic, Ulysses, which included events in the kingstown and Sandycove area

1906

Aug. 31.—Ball at Kingstown for Officers of the Atlantic Fleet. Bridge constructed from the Town Hall to The Pavilion for the occasion.

Dunleary Road (along the side of the railway line from Old Dunleary to Crofton Road) opened

Paradise Row (Convent Road) joined to Lower Georges St by demolishing No. 65 and 66 Lower Georges St

Grand Central Hotel, Marine Road (?), Opened by Philip Hynes (source: www.dia.ie) (Note this may be the hotel over Philip Hynes pub at 1 Upr Georges St, which faced on to Marine Road)

Terrace of red brick houses built on Corrig Avenue, known as Leixfort Villas.

1907

July 10.—Their Majesties the King and Queen, with the Princess Victoria, arrived at Kingstown, and drove to the Irish International Exhibition, visiting
the different sections.
July 11.—The Royal Party attended the Leopardstown Race Meeting and left Kingstown for Cardiff the next day.

Municipal Technical School opened on Eblana Avenue

1908 Aug. 24-27.—Five battleships of the Atlantic Fleet under the command of Vice-Adm. Sir Assheton G. Curzon-Howe, at Kingstown.

November 8-12.—Four battleships of the Atlantic Fleet, under the command of H.S.H. Prince Louis of Battenberg, at Kingstown.

Opening of May's Shops, corner of Patrick St and Lr Georges St (it closed 1981 and is now the o2 mobile phone shop)
