Des Moines Public Library

Located in the city of Des Moines, Iowa, the Des Moines Public Library comprises six physical locations and an online virtual library.

Library cards: Library cards are free for residents of Iowa, ages five and up. To obtain a library card, bring a photo ID and proof of current address to any branch.

Services: Patrons can borrow books, magazines, audiobooks, ebooks, CDs, and other materials for no charge; DVDs can be checked out for one week for $1.00. All branches regularly offer free programs for children, teens, and adults. Patrons also may attend book discussions; access research databases and subscription websites; and reserve private study rooms. Numerous computers are available to patrons and out-of-state guests. A wireless printing service allows documents to be printed from a home computer or smartphone for $0.25 per page.
