Durham Farmers' Market at the Pavilion in Durham Central Park

Durham Farmers' Market is a year-round market located in downtown Durham, in the Pavilion at Durham Central Park. Originated in 1998, this market hosts more than 60 vendors, all located within a 70-mile radius of Durham. Each vendor grows or makes the products available for purchase, which include seasonal produce, meats, cheeses, eggs, honey, baked goods, wine and beer (Fullsteam Brewery became a vendor in 2010), cut flowers, potted plants, various craft items and body care products. Near the center of the Pavilion, Farmer Foodshare collects food and cash donations for persons at risk for hunger.

Durham Farmers' Market hosts local chef demonstrations via the "Chef in the Market" series and since 2009 holds an Annual Chef Challenge in which chefs compete by preparing a dish featuring a seasonal ingredient.

Typically, various food trucks park on the streets around the market during Saturday hours. Opposite the Pavilion on Foster Street, Durham Craft Market vendors set up tents beginning each April, continuing through November. During that same time frame, Foster Street is closed to vehicle traffic between Hunt and Corporation Streets. Free parking is found on adjacent streets and in the YMCA parking lot (bordered by Foster St., Hunt St., and Rigsbee Ave.)
