Homelessness is a controversial issue in Eugene. During the Occupy protests homelessness became a major organizing point and many Occupy activists have continued to stay active in working to end homelessness and ensure that everyone has basic services.

The presence of homeless people in Downtown Eugene has resulted in the passage of a law called the Downtown Exclusion Zone, which gives the police broad latitude to remove or arrest people who are loitering.

Opportunity Village is a tiny house neighborhood being built in Springfield to provide homes for folks who otherwise might be homeless.
