In Firenze there is a long running project about public tap water. The water is filtered, cooled and served from various locations around the town, you can bring your own bottles and fill them for free. Water is available both in natural and sparkling version.
When the first fountain in the city centre was installed many local shops dropped the price of bottled water and instead prices of plastic glasses surged to 1 euro or more.
