Hoggetowne Hack, the City of Gainesville's first public hackathon, was hosted on Saturday, February 22, 2014, by the City of Gainesville's Innovation Academy Team.

Over 40 techies, 2 expert judges, 13 local sponsors, and many Gainesville citizens met at The Hipp in downtown to hack for civic good and learn about Gainesville's Open Data Portal.

The app development challenge produced 14 team presentations of prototypes and ideas with 3 teams taking home top honors and $2,750 in cash prizes.
